    As a Production Operator at PPG's Monroeville Research & Development, you will be a crucial part of our Specialty Synthesis Group (SSG) operations responsible for process development and manufacturing of photochromic dyes, OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) materials and optical coatings, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them. Depending on skill(s) and experience higher rate of pay may be considered. Key Responsibilities Multi-step organic reactions in a plant environment (50 L to 400 L scale). Running reactions/purifications according to batch sheet. Modify batch sheets and other procedures as needed. Collaborate effectively with variety of people with minimal supervision. The position involves blending, measuring, and producing raw materials to manufacture industrial coatings. You will work in a production environment with a high level of safety awareness and adhere to all appropriate safety procedures in place. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Production and scale experience in a similar plant or laboratory environment. Chemical and manufacturing experience preferred. Exposure to some inorganic and organic college chemistry lab experience preferred. Mechanical aptitude and high level of safety awareness. Attention to detail and documentation skills and excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong problem solving, initiative, and knowledge of PC applications. Interpersonal skills, interact with all levels of organization, and able to work in a team environment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the day. Must be able to stand, bend, crouch, kneel throughout the day, use basic tools, operate a Forklift or ability to learn to do so, and climb ladders to reach equipment/parts/storage.
