Overview Under general supervision, the candidate is responsible for the development, maintenance, and publishing of Protection & Control (P&C) standards for Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Substations. Under the close and immediate supervision of an engineering mentor, Entry Level Engineers perform routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. The Construction Electrical Engineer II will be expected to plan and execute procedures and provide technical support for construction and commissioning activities of CCGT projects and will work under the direction of the Manager, Electrical Technical Support or Section Team Leader to coordinate activities with Engineering, Technical Field Advisors in the field, Vendors and Contractors at site. Familiarity with Combined Cycle Power Plant Equipment is required. Power plant equipment such as pumps, condensers, cooling towers, rotating equipment, turbines, material handling, water treatment, valves, and heat exchangers. Requirements Coordinate internally with site managers, suppliers, and engineering teams to ensure resolution of issues. Manage moderately complex site issues independently, such as resolving minor construction deviations or coordinating supplier clarifications. Plan construction support activities for specific systems, ensuring integration with project schedule. Observes and ensures construction practices as required for compliance of construction operations/execution with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements. This position is responsible for designing the electrical power distribution system for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. Our voltage levels are primarily in the low-voltage side (600V and below) with implementation of equipment such as MCCs, Panelboards, LV Transformers, DC Systems and Batteries. Requirements · Develop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, terminations schedules. · Develop power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, hazardous area classifications. · Perform calculations, sizing of equipment (i.e.: breakers, overload devices, relays), sizing of cables/conduits/equipment spacing, illumination level calculations, maintaining BOM's, and other design duties required by complexity of project. · Develop and / or review electrical, control and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists generated by SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI). · Assist in preparing purchase specifications and vendor selection for electrical equipment · Generate Electrical drawing packages used or created by Electrical engineers, designers, and drafters to document logic, point to point wiring, and system interaction. · Interpret and design per code requirements from the authority having jurisdiction over a project's electrical installation. Assist in the design and planning of the Cooperative's electric system to ensure reliable, safe and cost-effective facilities are planned, constructed and maintained at the lowest reasonable cost consistent with good engineering and business practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in establishing and maintaining engineering and construction standards utilizing software applications including, but not limited to, computer aided drafting (CAD) and solid modeling. Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) is recruiting an Engineering junior or senior (preferred) for an internship opportunity at our offices in Moore, Oklahoma. This position will assist Switch and Substation design engineers with construction and upgrading of new and existing stations, Transmission Line design engineers with construction and upgrading of new and existing transmission lines, Transmission Protection and Control engineers with protection and controls related to the transmission system, and Planning engineers with system planning for transmission line and asset needs. To be eligible for the Internship you must be a full-time student at a college or university with a declared Electrical or Civil Engineering major. The hourly rate offered for this internship will be based off of student classification. The internship will be during the months of May-August.
