A PPL Intern/Co-op is a temporarily employed full-time college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. 3. Operates shop and portable equipment and machinery required to test, maintain and fabricate devices worked on.
4. Fabricates gaskets, control cables, bus bars; operates hand and small power tools, such: as embossing and stencil machines; assembles and treats hot line tools and switch sticks; uses common types of test equipment, such as: meters, meggers, ductors, TTR testers; and assists in insulation testing of electrical equipment worked on.

3. Performs work under normal and emergency conditions and makes decisions in the absence of on‑site supervision which have a direct effect on the reliability and operation of the power system.
4. Coordinates Electrical Test activities on assigned projects consistent with training and experience. Assists in the evaluation of new installations against design intent and/or standards. Develops test plans and work plans. Assists in design reviews.
5. Interfaces directly with industrial customers, independent power producers and representatives from telephone companies and other electric utilities relative to the installation, calibration, operation and maintenance of protective relay and control equipment at customer locations and interconnection points.

Overview
Conducts field surveys and performs assignments associated with the design and engineering of overhead and underground facilities of various voltage levels. This is a union position. The successful candidate will be a member of Local IBEW 1600. The starting hourly rate is $41.365 with the potential for overtime.

6. Determines customer obligations from Standard Practice Instructions for contracts, costs, billing and accounting purposes.
7. Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary.

Overview

This will provide the intern with real world experience in renewables, primarily energy storage. The Grid Planning Studies team focuses on transmission-level analysis of generator additions and modifications in Duke Energy Carolinas, Duke Energy Florida, and Duke Energy Progress. These generation resources include but are not limited to solar, battery, and natural gas sites that may range from several MW to in excess of 1 GW. In addition to developing foundational knowledge related to transmission planning activities, the intern position will provide hands-on experience with power flow tools such as PSS E and TARA. Position Purpose
The energy industry is evolving, and PPL Electric is helping to shape how the future will look. This includes offering new and innovative rates and utilizing alternative ratemaking methods. It also requires that we continue to meet our ongoing regulatory reporting requirements.
To support this, PPL Electric is looking for a Regulatory Reporting Intern who can help us improve how we currently file rates and other reports and consider ways in which we can develop new and innovative rates and other cost recovery mechanisms that will be relevant and applicable to a future energy industry landscape. More specifically, this position will support filings of distribution and transmission rates, required regulatory reports, and other various rate riders. The Regulatory Reporting Intern will also support efforts to explore how those rates and requirements may evolve in the future and may support development of various related processes and procedures.
A PPL Intern is a temporarily employed college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Enrolled in an accredited college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or master's degree in one of the following fields: accounting, finance, business, economics.
Must have a basic understanding of financial and accounting theory / principles
Must possess strong computer skills and be proficient with Excel spreadsheets.
Good communication skills are a must, both written and verbal.
Will graduate from their academic program within 12 months of internship completion.

Research alternative ratemaking approaches, types of utility rate offerings, and other cost recovery mechanisms used in the industry
Provide ad hoc financial analysis as it pertains to ratemaking
Help improve control documentation and update procedures
