To perform technical assignments for providing proper installation and maintenance of meter equipment that ensures accurate revenue energy measurement on the system.
This is a union position and the successful candidate will be a member of IBEW Local 1600.
The starting hourly rate is $54.537.
This position is based out of PPL's Lancaster Service Center.
Responsibilities
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
* Installs, inspects, maintains, tests, removes, surveys and verifies electric meters and metering systems, instrument transformers and various meter peripherals such as KYZ pulses and customer communication meter data links. Investigates failed or damaged metering. Investigates and resolves overloaded metering. Performs formal meter irregularity investigations. Assignments may involve working from ladders or aerial equipment.
* Performs certified PUC accuracy tests in the field to resolve customer billing complaints.
* Appropriately records meter data for billing and equipment inventory as required.
* Follows company's rules and regulations pertaining to meter and service installations and Underwriter's codes.
* Selects the proper meter, instrument transformer ratios and types to correctly size revenue metering installations.
* Detects and reports the possibility of current diversion and any possible theft of metered revenue.
* Reviews meter service requests for accuracy and initiates corrective action to make sure customer metering requests are provided correctly to meet the customer's service request.
* Monitors meter service requests to accomplish delivery and installation of appropriate metering equipment as scheduled and on time.
* Interacts with electrical contractors for meter concerns, reviews and accepts switchgear and instrument transformer cabinets/mountings with respect to conformance with the Rules for Electric Meter and Service Installations (REMSI).
* Maintains appropriate meter and instrument transformer inventory for the region along with regional Customer Rep A/B (4211)/3911).
* Monitors and evaluates PUC Installation-check audits and follows-up with corrective action if required.
* Reviews meter problems identified by Site Scan and takes corrective action as required. Follows investigation of site scan problems to resolution.
* Understands the technical operating characteristics of AMI meters at residential, commercial and industrial customer sites to investigate and resolve meter communication problems identified by AMI Operations (TNS/MV90).
* Understand communication basics of Meter to In- Home displays and troubleshoot Smart Meter concerns and their integration with customer in-home devices.
* Works with Supervisor, C & I Metering Services, Support Engineer/Senior Engineer and Customer Rep A/B to schedule/coordinate outages with customers/contractors and Distribution Operations crews for the installation and maintenance of metering.
* Hold Permit and Tag authority and maintain (Energy Control Process) certification required to perform the job duties listed.
* Under the direction of Meter Technician (2782) assist with AMI Substation Communication equipment as required performing maintenance and troubleshooting on AMI Substation Communication Devices.
* Installs voltage and current recording equipment for monitoring customer complaints at the direction of the regional customer support engineers.
* At the request and under the direction of the Meter Technician (2782), installs power quality equipment. Reads PQ data from test equipment and provides the data to appropriate meter engineer or meter technician as required.
* When appropriate, use approved hot line equipment and appropriate PPE to operate primary 12kv fuse links to de-energize 480 volt services to allow work on metering equipment (limited to opening and closing devices only)
Qualifications
* Graduate of a 2-year Electronic Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology degree program from a school/program which has been accredited by a nationally recognized accreditation agency or has successfully passed the PPL Engineering Aide Qualification Exam.
* Possess appropriate computer skills to use Microsoft Office and other required meter programming and other related software applications.
* Must have a valid motor vehicle operator's license and obtain required CDL medical certification to operate vehicles up to 17,500 pounds gross weight.
* Successfully passing the EEI CAST test or its replacement.

Job Summary
Responsible for translating the business requirements for Operational Solutions into the SAP system via the SAP Configuration IMG (SAP Implementation Guide). Position Summary:

Principal Accountabilities:
Monthly Close and Related:
* Lead and provide oversight of the monthly close process

About the Opportunity
The Transmission Planning Engineer position is responsible for transmission planning functions across FirstEnergy's transmission and subtransmission systems in the FirstEnergy area. The primary focus is on studying and planning the safe and reliable operation of transmission and subtransmission lines and substations. In addition, the position is responsible for performing studies related to generation and load interconnections attaching to the system within the assigned planning areas. The engineer will perform transmission planning activities with input from the operating companies, other utilities, generator owners, the Regional Transmission Organization, and Regional Reliability Organizations. The position has the responsibility to initiate, recommend, and assist in the development of the capital portfolio for reliability related projects within the planning area of responsibility. The position works closely with the Operations Center to provide support during storms, heavy loading periods, and abnormal system events.
Responsibilities Include:
* Providing technical support and studies to develop transmission and subtransmission infrastructure projects, plans, and capital budgets to maintain the reliability and integrity of the FE system.
* Performing timely completion of bulk and area transmission systems studies ensuring compliance with NERC, PJM and FE planning criteria.
* Proposing and economically justifying recommended mitigation projects to any planning criteria deficiencies identified through system studies. If capital projects cannot be implemented in the needed timeframe, a detailed operating solution is prepared and presented to Operations for review and implementation.
* Performing development of annual capital budgets by requesting cost estimates and preparing presentations associated with the capital portfolio process.
* Performing studies associated with the connection of new loads, generators and merchant transmission projects.
* Providing support to the Operations Centers when required, such as during severe weather, heavy loading or abnormal system events. Frequently this support requires rapid turn-around of an evaluation of whether the system can accommodate an outage and remain in a secure condition should the next contingency occur. It could also involve operational recommendations to alleviate abnormal system conditions, abnormal voltages, or equipment overloads.
* Working with various industry groups to meet requirements / obligations that FE has within the industry, and actively promote FE ideas / methods / procedures that the industry should be using as it moves forward. Formal industry groups include NERC, RFC and PJM.

Job Summary
The individual in this role will be engaged in the planning, marketing, implementation, program management and regulatory reporting aspects of the electric and natural gas Energy Efficiency and Conservation ("EE&C") Programs. Job Summary
The Fixed Assets and Plant Accountant II is responsible for preparing and maintaining records to support the Company's fixed asset (plant) balances. This includes preparation of monthly closing entries, recording of assets and retirements, correspondence with operational personnel related to capital projects, preparation of plant reporting for management and regulatory agencies, and drafting of plant-related budgets and forecasts.

* Monthly Close and Related Processes:
* Prepare standard and non-recurring journal entries associated with plant balances.
* Prepare accrual journal entries associated with accounts payable.
* Complete accruals for capital projects, corresponding with project managers to ensure completeness of capital accruals for the period.
* Complete account reconciliations.
* Complete and document SOX controls associated with plant process.
* Perform fixed asset system close processes.
* Prepare balance sheet and income statement variance analysis for plant accounts.
* Respond to auditor requests associated with areas of responsibility.
* Review and input Finance and Operating Leases into the Company's leasing software.
* Capital Projects Management:
* Monitor outstanding CWIP balances.
* Follow up with project managers related to long-outstanding balances, transfers, and unusual adjustments.
* Plant Accounting Technology:
* Serve as the departmental specialist related to EAA fixed asset sub-ledger.
* Work with internal SAP and fixed asset system resources to improve processes associated with creating, unitizing, and retiring capital projects.

+ Verify the correctness and quality of the work being performed, ensure it fulfills or exceeds customer expectations.
+ Accurately monitor, track, and maintain records/reporting of all materials utilized and remaining.
+ Maintain accurate documentation and ensure deliverables are executed in a timely manner.
+ Must be prepared to procure storage facilities for project materials and equipment.
