Overview
The PPL R&D Department is looking for three student engineering interns from all engineering disciplines to begin in May 2026. We are looking for interns who are passionate about renewable energy, including wind and solar, energy storage, green hydrogen, sustainability, carbon capture and other decarbonization technologies.
Ideal candidates will be based in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Kentucky and would be interested in the potential of transitioning to full-time employment with PPL upon graduation. During the school year, students will work part time, but during the summer, the position will work on-site and may include travel to work on clean energy R&D projects at numerous locations across PPL Corporation including Allentown, Pennsylvania, Providence, Rhode Island, as well as Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky. While traveling, all expenses will be paid.

OUC's internship program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of the utility industry through on-the-job training, educational sessions, self-paced learning courses, and individual or team projects.
We are looking for a Data Systems Engineering Intern. During this internship, you will partner with the Data Delivery and Analytics team.
You will be involved in:
Partnering with cloud architects and business leaders to support strategic planning and financial forecasting related to SaaS usage.
Evaluate the current data ecosystem to assess gaps in data quality, controls, and risk exposure across end-to-end processes.
Define and implement scalable data quality rules, monitoring mechanisms, and risk mitigation controls.
Collaborate with engineering and business teams to integrate quality and risk frameworks into data pipelines, reporting, and governance practices.
Work closely with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to document data lineage, establish standards, and develop a domain-oriented data architecture.
Develop models and dashboards that provide actionable insights to guide technology expansion, migration strategies, and evaluation of data product success.

Internship Eligibility:
Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
Academic status of Senior or Master's.
Program of study: Systems and Industrial Engineering, Data analytics, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or Engineering Management.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Previous internship experience preferred
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Strong academic foundation in Systems Architecture, Process & Simulation, IT Integration, Predictive Analytics and Data analytics.
Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
Self-motivated and proactive; able to work independently.
Ability to prioritize and resolve issues under deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
Proven ability to learn new skills quickly.
