Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
* Work in conjunction with the various Area Managers to effectively promote safety ownership to field management.
* Perform weekly, monthly and quarterly safety visits /inspection in accord with East Region Safety Action Plan.
* Provide assistance and technical expertise in implementation of all areas of the safety program.
* Provide training and mentorship on Daily Job Brief meetings and paperwork.
* Provide training and education of staff in safety philosophies and safe work practices.
* Deploy oversight processes which ensure the integrity of safety inspecting, training and reporting procedures.
* Participate in pre-bid and pre-construction phases of projects, focusing on safe work practices and equipment needed to successfully complete the scope of work.
* Lead development of Activity Hazard Analysis, Daily Job Briefings, Work Site Observation Reports and Safety Action Plans.
* Track and verify that corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Review all incident reports to ensure corrective actions are completed. Take a pro-active role in investigating all OSHA recordables and High Loss Potential incidents.
* Assist in any other functions required by Corporate or Regional management.
* Interface with Customers and vendors on safety related issues.
Qualifications
Requirements:
* CUSP certificate with Bachelor's degree preferred
* The ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Certifications such as ASP, CSP, CUSA, OSHA 30, OSHA 10 etc.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do as a Safety Specialist
As a Safety Specialist at Lewis Services, you'll:
* Serve as a visible leader, influencing and motivating while modeling Lewis's Operating Principles.
* Build and maintain strong partnerships with Operations to drive positive and continuous safety improvements.
* Participate in morning huddles and deliver safety tailgates/safety moments to job crews.
* Conduct worksite observations to identify potential risks and compliance with company and regulatory requirements; provide feedback to Operations Leadership.
* Provide timely assistance and consistent interpretation of company safety policies/procedures and regulatory requirements.
* Train and coach employees on:
* Working safely with utility line clearance tools (saws, pruners, hanger poles, rigging tools, saddles, harnesses, aerial lifts, etc.).
* Technical skills from fundamentals to advanced (roping and rigging, collision avoidance, climbing techniques).
* Safety-related processes and risks (aerial rescue, electrical safety, First Aid/CPR).
* Investigate and analyze incidents using current methods to facilitate organizational learning and build capacity to fail safely.
* Prepare evaluations and provide summary reports and recommendations for Operations and Safety Leadership.
* Communicate safety program needs with regional leadership.
* Report timely and accurately to Safety and Operations Regional Leadership.
* Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Significant travel is required, providing governance and oversight during field visits with Safety Specialists, Operations Leadership, and field crews.
Qualifications
What You Bring:
* Associate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of High School diploma/GED with safety/industry-related credentials (CUSP, CTSP, ASP, GSP, ISA Arborist) or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 1 year of experience in line clearance or related industry.
* Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements; OSHA 30 Hour or equivalent.
* Valid driver's license.
* Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Preferred:
* Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, or Occupational Health and Safety.
* Minimum 1 year in a safety leadership role.
* Experience in line clearance, ISA Arborist, or related industry.
* Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP) - required within 1 year of hire.
* Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP).

Primary Role
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and requirements at the facility. In addition, this technical position will provide trouble shooting and corrective action support to the project operations, maintenance and capital staff.
Key Accountabilities
Implement, document and provide training on the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety Policies as well as any applicable OSHA requirements.
Provide assistance in auditing and ensuring compliance with facility's Load Program, enter work orders into the CMMS utilization of and execution of the CATF program, as well as all site environmental plans.
Observe, document, train and provide feedback to MSG staff and third-party vendors as well as contractors performing work at the facility.
Lead all near miss and actual EH&S incidents and accidents analysis and corrective/preventative measures.
Perform required H&S inspections, JSO's and OBA's.
Routinely perform audits in EH&S areas of maintenance, water and wastewater facilities for regulatory and company policy compliance, prepare audit findings and ensure closure/corrective actions.
Assist in the preparation of all permit applications, preparation of regulatory reports, provide monthly EH&S and Compliance reporting.
Provide support, sample validation reports, Lab QA/QC documentation, and interact/reporting (as necessary) with regulatory agencies (approved by manager).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills

Solid knowledge related to EH&S Compliance management of water and wastewater systems and processes.
Knowledge of company procedures, policies, and operations.
Knowledge of quality control systems and compliance standards.
Knowledge of laboratory processes, procedures and requirements relevant to the water and/or wastewater industry.
Knowledge of DOT and SHA practices/policies.
Experience/Education
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Degree in environmental engineering, chemistry, biology or environmental science, business administration, or other related field is preferred Applicable EH&S qualifying experience or training will be considered.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in water/wastewater industry or related field.
Minimum of 1-year experience in water and wastewater industry compliance for environmental, health and safety programs.
Certifications/Licenses
Industry related EH&S certifications, water and/or wastewater license an advantage.
Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Work Environment
Office/Field 30/70.
