As the Advance Practice Nurse (RN) in the Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology you will assume clinical leadership responsibilities for nursing and nursing practice. You will take action in house-wide clinical program planning and focus advancement of expert nursing practice. You will evaluate clinical practice for patient care and monitor the standards of practice, as well as, provide the use of evidence-based resources, change and system theories to promote organizational improvements. In addition, you will facilitate point of service decision making activities, including but not limited to education, research and performance improvement for their areas of expertise. The Advance Practice Nurse is a nursing leadership position which functions in the nursing (not medical) model to advance practice within a designated scope of responsibility. This position will be focused on the procedural areas of radiology including interventional radiology and the cath lab areas. This position will also require active participation at the system level on various nursing committees and projects.

This is a full time exempt day shift position (1.0 FTE - 80 hours per pay period - 2 week pay period) with benefits.
*Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:*
* California Registered Nurse License
* Master's degree in related field acceptable with bachelors in nursing.Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
* Two (2) years of recent full time RN experience in an acute care setting within hospital environment.
* Current American Heart Association BLS provider certification
* Provides portfolio for the interview with at least 2 examples of: creative work such as articles submitted for publication, contributions to texts, papers written for nursing coursework., outlines for classes taught, examples of performance improvement projects or evidence based practice change projects, evidence of leadership activities such as chairing a committee or output developed from activities submitted to a committee or task force.

*Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:*
* Prefer Masters in Nursing - MSN
* Doctorate recommended - Preferred doctorate in nursing such as DNP, PhD, DNSc. Will accept EdD and others upon review
* 3 years of Advance Practice Nursing experience
* CNS certification
* National Board Certification through ANCC and/or equivalent in specialty area
* Prefer those with experience leading a project to measured outcomes.

Endicott College's School of Nursing is seeking a collaborative and insightful Chair, Doctor of Nurse Practice Program (DNP) to serve as an interface between faculty and the administration. With direction from the Associate Dean of Graduate Nursing, the Chair of the DNP program is responsible for managing all aspects, including the daily operations, of the DNP Program. This includes the supervision, mentoring and guidance for full and/or part-time faculty. Development of the curriculum, programming, course offerings, program evaluation and accreditation along with student enrollment, academic progress, certification pass rates, and retention is the responsibility of the DNP Chair.

Responsibilities include:

+ Teaches 12 credits hybrid courses a year at the doctoral level

+ Employs a variety of assessment tools and strategies for 100% of courses taught

+ Advises up to 30 DNP students in successfully entering and completing their graduate education program

+ Supervises DNP/FNP students in successfully navigating the certification process with a benchmark of 80-100% success.

+ Supervises, trains and evaluates part-time faculty and advisors

Qualifications:

+ Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) required;

+ Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts required;

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated learner and able to collaborate with medical and nursing colleagues. The current opening is for Adult Solid Tumor malignancies with GYN Oncology. Position is Part-Time, 24 hours per week. Current NJ APN/PA license and certification required Master s degree required or Graduate Level Certification Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialization in oncology preferred necessary to obtain ongoing education in oncology if not certified CDS required DEA required BLS required 2 years of experience in the oncology specialty area in a hospital or clinic setting preferred Proficient and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Medical Knowledge

Definition: Synthesis of pathophysiology, patient presentation, and the medical, surgical, and/or radiotherapy oncologic management for patients with an oncology diagnosis.

1. Demonstrates in depth oncology specific, as well as general medical-surgical knowledge base.

2. Provides rational explanation for clinical decisions made or actions taken based on professionally approved guidelines, science, and experience as a health care provider.

3. Contribute to the research mission of the institution, by keeping abreast of protocols within one s tumor group and identifying potential trial candidates.

Patient Care

Definition: The ability of the APP to assess all aspects of the patient s oncologic health status, including health promotion, symptom management, and disease prevention. Psychosocial care and the involvement of the patient s support network are also crucial to this success.

1. Performs comprehensive initial and episodic health histories and physical exams; in order to identify existing or potential health problems and initiates appropriate diagnostic, therapeutic, procedural and clinical actions.

2. Interprets clinical findings and formulates a plan of care that addresses the individual patient, this is specific to each tumor group and requires the APP to become an expert in understanding practice norms.

3. Educates patients and families regarding all aspects of oncology care including management of side effects, anticipatory teaching, patient and family counseling, and reassurance in regard to psychological and/or psychosocial issues.

Practice Based Learning and Improvement

Definition: The processes by which an APP engages in the critical analysis of their own practice experience, the medical literature, and other information resources for the purposes of self- and practice-improvement. APPs must be able to assess, evaluate, and improve their patient care practices.

1. Identifies knowledge and skill needs through self-assessment, collaborative engagement with physician colleagues, peer review, and annual performance evaluation.

2. Attends relevant continuing education programs with population specific focus and disseminates knowledge to colleagues with integration into clinical practice.

3. Applies pertinent research findings to clinical practice.

Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication Skills

Definition: The APP is proficient in working with others including specialties within a profession, between professions, with patients and families, and within and between organizations. Communication skills encompass the verbal, nonverbal, written, and electronic exchange of information.

1. Communicates with all members of the health care team to assure a unified approach to the patient s plan of care.

2. Documents in a timely and organized method the plan of care and appropriate clinical information in congruence with hospital policy in the electronic medical record.

3. Participates in team meetings, conferences, institutional committees, and tumor boards, to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to health care delivery and to support bidirectional communication.

Professionalism

Definition : Expression of positive values and ideals as care is delivered. It involves prioritizing the interests of those being served above one s own. APPs must acknowledge their own professional and personal limitations, as well as demonstrate a high level of responsibility, ethical practice methods, and behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development.

1. Acts as a resource, teacher, and leader in oncology care for other members of the health care team. Shares knowledge and expertise with staff, this includes acting as preceptor for students, new hire staff, and interdisciplinary learning.

2. Maintains accountability for effective time management. Adjusts hours of work to meet job demands.

3. Self reflects on personal development, this includes skills for collaboration, self-care, and building tools for emotional intelligence.

4. Maintains legal and compliance requirements for employment.

Systems-Based Practice

Definition: Encompasses the societal, organizational, and economic environments in which health care is delivered. APPs must demonstrate an awareness of and responsiveness to the larger system of health care to provide patient care that balances quality and cost.

1. Participates in evaluation of quality improvement activities related to patient care including satisfaction and health care delivery.

2. Documents clinical services provided in accordance with reimbursement and institutional policies.

3. Assists patients and families in navigating barriers to comprehensive cancer care including but not limited to payment and reimbursement, financial resources, and referral of patients to appropriate local, state, and national patient-support resources.
