Position Description
The Communications Manager is a key member of the external relations team at Love Columbia. The primary responsibilities of the Communications Manager are developing and implementing effective communication strategies that promote Love Columbia's mission, goals, and programs to various stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and the general public. This includes managing the organization's website, social media presence, public relations, and media outreach efforts, as well as creating and distributing written and visual content such as press releases, newsletters, and marketing materials.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or comparable experience
· 2 years of similar work experience
· Familiarity with Squarespace, Canva, InDesign, Constant Contact is strongly preferred
Essential functions and duties:
· Storytelling
o Create written and visual stories for the Love Columbia monthly e-mail newsletters, website, quarterly mailings, and social media.
· Publications
o Create and ensure a timely implementation of an annual strategic communications plan in collaboration with Love Columbia leadership team that includes: social media, email newsletters, print pieces, and other key mediums as assigned.
o Promote and maintain the official Love Columbia branding guidelines.
o Oversee and ensure availability of creative merchandise of the Love Columba brand.
o Manage all social media accounts and vendor relationships.
o Work with the Love Seat general manager to create marketing materials for the resale store.
o Work with program managers to create program description brochures.
o Oversee the use of Love Columbia's video studio.
· Public Relations
o Create and maintain event materials and displays.
o Promote and protect the Love Columbia image internally and externally.
o Write and issue press releases as needed.
o Manage media relationships and interview requests.
