I was able to complete my Master's degree while working at the university. I am fortunate enough to work in a department with a supervisor who takes the time to ensure his employees are heard if there are any concerns.
There can be a lack of communication between departments where it can cause for projects to take longer to get completed. If you are a staff member more than likely your pay is monthly which can be a struggle for some who have to make their check stretch for the whole month. Some positions have weird shift schedules that can make it hard for some employees who may have families.
I do not have one at the moment.
The president of the university is wanting to help not only the students but the faculty and the staff when it comes to certain needs.
While there are many things that could be changed I think the main thing I try to improve and would like to see some change with is the communication as well as the trust between departments when someone is trying to explain something that effects both parties.
I prepared for my interview with my athletic coach asking me questions like if it was a mock interview so that I could go in confidently. I also did some reading on the job description and incorporated that into the things I may have done as a student athlete which helped a lot.
The compensation at the university compared to the industry, to me, I would say is a little below average.
I believe that the representation of diverse demographics within my organization is good but could be better.
Being able to talk to costumers who want to make reservations and making them happen. Also fixing any issues I am able to fix on my own.
