Job Description
Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer is responsible for managing continuous improvement plans, capital projects, process control, and all aspects of 6S initiatives within the operation. This includes understanding the current process state, identifying improvement opportunities to the management team, then leading cross-functional team members to drive continuous improvement, housekeeping, 6S, as well as safety compliance. The position will be required to work with all levels of management to generate improvement plans, capital projects, and sustained 6S housekeeping excellence.
Essential Functions:
* Work with Facilities Manager, maintenance team and contractors to coordinate installation and upgrade projects relating to CI, 6S, plant layout, and facilities upgrade.
* Work with department managers/supervisors on continuous improvement, process control, housekeeping, and 6S changes for the department and direct 6S principles.
* Create new self-sustaining processes that include identifying and tracking continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain documentation including photos and scores of weekly, monthly, and quarterly 6S activities plant-wide.
* Implement process management/process improvement initiatives following Lean Six Sigma principles.
* Recommend improvements and projects for long-term 6S strategy including capital budgeting.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives that will reduce scrap and improve TOC metrics.
* Champion communication between organizations at all levels for projects and CapEx.
* Report-out weekly at the staff meeting on project status, deadlines, and weekly improvements.
* Standardize processes across plant departments, developing Standard 6s Procedures.
* Manage, measure, and track all 6S capital projects including cost, contractors, and vendors.
* Support, score, post, and communicate all 6S scores and department improvements.
* Ensure all safety initiatives are integrated into continuous projects and improvements.
* Lead and manage the plant in 6S initiatives driving a sustainable cultural change.
* Work with production employees on 6S/housekeeping changes for their departments.
* Responsible for submitting continuous improvement/6s budget annually.
* Follow and comply with all Environmental, Health, & Safety policies.
* Lead/drive process changes, improvements, value stream mapping.
* Facilitate cross-functional teams to achieve Kaizen objectives.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Six sigma black and/or green belt certification is a plus.

2ND SHIFT
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Utilize lean manufacturing tools to streamline operations throughout plant via changes to workstation layout, material handling, or processing.
* Write area Standard Operating Procedures and Engineering Procedures as required and review operator training procedures.
* Develop protocol for qualifying new operators.
* Initiate process trials to determine most cost-effective way to deliver a quality part to our customers.
* Develop scorecard for quality metrics defined by Eastlake Handling scrap category.
* Develop additional daily metrics as needed to reduce scrap, rework and process variation
* Develop plans to improve operator related scrap and communicate improvement timeline to management.
* Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
* Position supports all shifts and candidate must demonstrate a willingness to work any shift required when the need arises.
* Confer with engineering, quality, manufacturing, outside vendors and other representatives, including customers, in planning, scheduling, coordinating and implementing NPI's (fixture requirements etc).
* Audit and continuously improve snag/CNC processes and product produced by those processes to reduce variation seen at finishing, visual and dimensional.
* Assure reliability of the process.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, or other related Engineering discipline.
* Experience in using Lean Manufacturing tools like Kaizen, TPM, 6S, Standard Work, Kan-Ban, Poka-Yoke.
* Experience performing time studies a plus.
* Basic knowledge of production processes, machine tooling and operations, hand tools and automation concepts and practices required.

**Program location**

Job Description
As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for reducing product and process variation through the use of Six Sigma / statistical tools and the implementation or improvement of existing procedures and process controls. In this critical role, you will also be responsible for:
Support day to day product and process operations for coating and compounding assets in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Be a business partner to the site leadership team
Identify & analyze production problems using Six Sigma methodologies to control & improve manufacturing processes.
Loss reduction & continuous improvement in coating line productivity & product quality through the use of problem solving, Six Sigma & project management skills.
Continually improve & optimize current products through variation reduction.
Provide support for new product development and material changes as they arise by interacting with and being a member of Marketing and R&D teams.
Develop control strategies for sustaining all continuous improvement projects.
Initiate, manage & participate in safety, quality, cost & process improvement projects.
Provide ongoing process evaluation-including trials & capability studies.
Implementation of new equipment & operating procedures.
Mentoring other process engineers and operations personnel.
Developing and implementing technical training.
Scoping and executing capital projects
Participating, leading and sponsoring various task teams.
Assisting in the development of long-term strategies.
Qualifications
Essential:
Experience with statistical analysis, statistical process controls, SPC, DOE, FMEA, and MSE.
Ability to develop, implement, monitor, measure, and control functional improvement plans.
Problem solving, decision analysis, situation appraisal skills.
Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate and develop influential relationships at multiple levels within an organization, and lead in a positive and collaborative manner
Ability to influence others.
Approachable, effective in giving/receiving feedback.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
Strong PC skills - MS Office / Google platforms, Lotus Notes, MINITAB, AutoCAD, Inventor/SolidWorks, QSI and QIS experience a plus.
Previous ISO 9001-2000 experience with implementation, improvement, and sustainment.
Previous Six Sigma exposure/experience. Green Belt / Black Belt certification is a plus.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations, engineering, or a related field, including co-op and internship experience.
Flexibility on work hours (on call after hours/weekend as needed)
Preferred:
