In the area of maintenance, Plant Technicians are responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, basic repair, and cleaning of all equipment associated with bioprocessing processes. At times, Plant Technicians may be asked to assist Maintenance Technicians in more technical and complex maintenance procedures. Team members in this position are required to maintain knowledge of the process flow, computerized equipment, and be aware of hazards associated with the process as well as understand and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs). Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work. Plant Technicians must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed. SCHEDULE: Days 7am-7pm & Nights 7pm-7am (Rotation every 6 weeks) Use your knowledge to maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant where required. Perform maintenance and basic repairs of plant equipment and document these activities. Operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant. Safely perform basic electrical troubleshooting. Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning, and batching. Maintain accurate and timely logs. Collect and test quality control samples, interpret QA/QC results and make adjustments to optimize plant operations, timely and accurately document results and enter results into our data collection system, PI. Assist in removal, installation, rebuild, and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant processes. The essential job duties for this position are listed below: * Monitor process indicators, instruments, gauges, for temperatures, pressures and flows through a PLC System. * Control or operate manifold and pumping systems to route liquids. * Operate control panels to coordinate and regulate process variables such as temperature and pressure, and to direct product flow rate, according to process schedules. * Record and compile operating data, instrument readings, documentation, and results of laboratory analyses * Required to perform minor mechanical repair work on items such as, but not limited to, pumps, fans, valves, gauges, etc. * Assist and interact with other technicians, maintenance crew and contractors. * Patrol units to monitor the amount of oil in storage tanks and to verify that activities and operations are safe and efficient. * Conduct general housekeeping of units. * Perform lab tests to check the qualities and grades of products * Complete daily lab work, such as sulfur testing, processing, and distillation to provide quality spot checks of product specs. * Calculate test result values, using standard formulas. * Offload tanker trucks into specified tanks. * Help with administrative work. * Other duties as assigned. Examines returned cylinders for surface defects, such as dents, cracks, and burns and moves cylinders to designated work area. Removes cylinder cap (if appropriate for the type of cylinder involved). Inspects valves for correct CGA connection and pressure relief device. Connects cylinders to manifold and opens valves to first draw off residual gas and then evacuate cylinders. Inspects cylinder labels to assure they are correct for the service intended, legible and legal with current federal requirements, replacing inappropriate labels detected. Paint cylinders in accordance with SOP for color and type of gas. Moves all cylinders to the area designated for retest, repair, or finished as appropriate. Examines returned cylinders for surface defects, such as dents, cracks, and burns and moves cylinders to designated work area. Removes cylinder cap (if appropriate for the type of cylinder involved). Inspects valves for correct CGA connection and pressure relief device. Connects cylinders to manifold and opens valves to first draw off residual gas and then evacuate cylinders. Inspects cylinder labels to assure they are correct for the service intended, legible and legal with current federal requirements, replacing inappropriate labels detected. Paint cylinders in accordance with SOP for color and type of gas. Moves all cylinders to the area designated for retest, repair, or finished as appropriate.
