The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing nursing services each shift and functions as a nursing supervisor. This position provides daily supervision of staff on duty during operational hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.
Assist with clinical and operational processes to improve patient health and minimize hospitalizations and missed treatments.
Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.
Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles. Administer medications as ordered by the physician.
Assist physician during patient rounds and transcribe and implement physician orders timely.
Assist with the implementation of anemia management and medication protocols as requested.
Knowledge of and comply with federal, state, local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice act requirements.
Perform duties at all times within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
May give direct patient care to the extent of performing efficient, safe dialysis, if allowed by state regulations.
Responds to all emergencies in clinic.
Communicate results of patient assessment, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring to the physician, team members, and others as appropriate to the individual needs of the patient.
Maintain collaborative working relationship with Medical Director and physicians.
Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary team in all required patient assessment and care planning activities.
Assist in orientation of new staff as a preceptor or in assigning a preceptor.
Acts as resource person and participates in implementing and evaluating dialysis services and assures that policies and procedures are updated.
Assists Administrator in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of center staff
Qualifications/Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:
Current RN license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current and in good standing.
12 months experience in providing nursing care, including 3 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis.
CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors.
Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership position and to perform in new and emergent situations with sound judgment.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in all USRC clinical applications required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications:
· Graduate of approved school of nursing required; BSN preferred

About the Role

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

A Forensic Nurse Examiner is specially trained and certified by the Maryland Board of Nursing to provide comprehensive care to adults, adolescents and children who have been impacted by sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse, human trafficking and non-intentional trauma. The Examiner works independently under the general direction of the Forensic Nurse Examiner Manager.
The following job description covers the most significant duties performed, but does not exclude other work assignments not mentioned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Principal Duties:
1. Performs forensic evidentiary examinations on victims and alleged perpetrators in connection with chronic or acute physical, sexual, or domestic assaults, and specifically:
a. Provides timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to patients with a complaint of sexual assault utilizing a clinical process.
b. Obtains consent from the subject or custodial/proper authority prior to the examination relative to photography and evidence collection.
c. Performs evidentiary physical assessments using ALS when indicated based on evidence-based research and unit-based training.
d. Completes the Physical Evidence Kit required by law enforcement authorities.
e. Photographs patients and injuries as training indicates using proper technique.
f. Ensures compliance with Chain of Custody requirements. 2. Interfaces with law enforcement officials, crime labs, prosecutors, and other authorized stakeholders concerning forensic processes and outcomes to include providing expert testimony in judicial proceedings.
3. Provides testing, prophylactic treatment, prescription refills and related education to patients who potentially may have been exposed to HIV during their assault.
4. Participates in peer reviews, staff meetings and SART meetings.
5. Performs related work as assigned.

1. Greets customers in courteous, friendly, respectful and professional manner at all times, including maintaining eye contact when appropriate.

Nurse Extern
REQUIREMENTS: Must be a nursing student entering their last year of nursing school with a graduation date between December 2026- May 2027.
IMPORTANT DATES: Application Submission: Opens September 11th 2025 Closes: March 2nd 2026
Program Duration: 8 Weeks, Beginning June 8th 2026, Ending August 1st 2026
SCHEDULE:
• 36-40 hours, three, 12-hour shifts a week following orientation.
• Candidates must have the flexibility to work either day or night shifts to match the schedule of the preceptor they are paired with.
COMPENSATION:
• $16.00 hour

JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a UVA Community Health Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
• Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedures to promote patient health and wellness.
• Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
• Performs administrative support functions.
• Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
Patient Care: Works with team members to develop or improve processes to assure a remarkable patient experience.
Creates and maintains a healthy work environment that results in improved patient outcomes, retention, and organizational excellence.
Collaborates with physicians to develop or improve processes surrounding care of patients.
Coordinates the provision of patient care through delegation, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
Quality: Works in partnership with leaders to create, support, and maintain a culture of professional accountability.
Partners with family and patients to resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care.
Assures that team members provide care that is consistent with The Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements.
Communication: Ensures timely and consistent communication to provide exemplary care.
Provides progress updates to team members in a timely manner.
Utilizes communication methods and tools to deliver information that improves quality of personal and organizational decisions.
Collaborates with physicians to develop or improve processes surrounding care of patients.
Assists with conducting departmental meetings.
Creates an environment that supports and respects differences and belonging.
Coaches and mentors the team in order to achieve goals.
Medical Knowledge: Demonstrates core knowledge of biomedical and clinical sciences and the application of this knowledge to patient care.
Meets and maintains required certifications and licenses.
Monitors operations on a daily basis and provides guidance to the nursing team.
Develops and implements plan for self-development and succession planning.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Currently enrolled student nurses who graduate December of 2025-May 2027. BSN students who have completed their 3rd year; ASN students who have completed their 1st year.
Students may remain employed as a Nurse Extern until graduation completion. Following graduation and board completion they will need to apply for open positions and continue through the hiring process.
