Job Summary:
Our PrepCook plays a crucial role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly by preparing ingredients and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Your primary responsibility will be to perform various food preparation tasks, including chopping vegetables, preparing meats, and ensuring all ingredients are ready for cooking according to the restaurant's standards and recipes.
Key Responsibilities
Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits.
Measure, weigh, and mix ingredients.
Prepare meats, poultry, and seafood by cutting, trimming, and marinating.
Follow recipes to prepare sauces, dressings, and other condiments.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and sanitized after use.
Monitor and report any kitchen equipment that needs repair or replacement.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries properly.
Check inventory levels and report shortages to the appropriate Manager.
Rotate stock to ensure the freshest ingredients are used.
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Ensure proper storage of food items to prevent spoilage.
Assist chefs, line cooks, or both with basic cooking tasks as needed.
Prepare and portion ingredients for various dishes according to menu specifications.
Respond to specific requests from the kitchen team promptly.
Inspects kitchen- prep areas, storage areas, and cooking areas; cleans as needed.
Reports on any unsafe conditions to maintain safety and sanitation standards.
Assists in tasks to ensure a clean, sanitized, and safe restaurant.
Hospitality to our Guests:
Understands our culture and does whatever it takes to create a positive and memorable guest experience.
Follows company policy in handling guest allergies/intolerances, ensuring guests receive "safe" meals.
Set up stations with food products and utensils and turn on equipment to ensure they are ready for production.
Reads tickets and/or listens to what dishes are called to determine what/when items need to be prepared
Has a thorough understanding and working knowledge of kitchen-specific positions (i.e., fry, grill, bun & board, assembly, expo)
Checks and adjusts equipment temperature to ensure food is cooked and stored properly.
Cleans station floors, counters, tools, cutting boards, and preparation surfaces using proper cleaning solutions to ensure stations are always clean and sanitized.
Assists other team members by answering questions and helping as needed to aid in guests' service.
Hospitality to your Team:
Arrives to work on time as scheduled, well-groomed in the proper work attire, and ready to work.
Clocks in and out as scheduled.
Demonstrates a helpful, positive attitude to guests and team members.
Completes all assigned tasks and duties assigned by managers/supervisors.
Follow proper kitchen breakdown procedures before leaving at the end of the shift.
Assists fellow team members as needed to ensure our guests receive the highest standard of food and hospitality.
Requirements & Prior Experience:
Able to understand and follow directions from others.

1. Prepares nutritious meals that take into consideration children's various cultures and individual nutritional needs.
2. Understands and uses child nutritional needs and age-specific portion sizes to prepare meals in accordance with USDA, Head Start, and CACFP guidelines.
3. Understands and strictly adheres to health, safety, food handling, and sanitation requirements before, during, and after meal preparation.
4. Follows menu guidelines and adjusts when necessary due to the availability of menu items or an individual child's needs.
5. Plan and participate in nutritious cooking activities with children.
6. Prepare assigned menu and participate in family-style meals with children, volunteers, and staff.
7. Work in conjunction with the Site Supervisor and Faculty to monitor family-style dining in classrooms and document as appropriate.
8. Maintain food service record-keeping and reporting as directed by the supervisor.
9. Conduct weekly inventory of food and supplies.
10. Check food deliveries for accuracy and good quality. Notify Headquarters when an item is missing or of poor quality.
11. Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures.
12. Maintain appropriate cleanliness of all kitchen materials and supplies as required.
13. Maintain a list and be aware of the center's food allergies and concerns. Prepare alternate menu items as needed for the affected children.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
High school diploma. ServSafe Certification or obtain such certification within 3 months.
Experience in purchasing and preparing culturally diverse foods for groups. Knowledge of early childhood nutrition
Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
