There is more than meets the eye when it comes to being a prep room supervisor. For example, did you know that they make an average of $15.45 an hour? That's $32,129 a year! Between 2018 and 2028, the career is expected to grow 11% and produce 38,500 job opportunities across the U.S.
There are certain skills that many prep room supervisors have in order to accomplish their responsibilities. By taking a look through resumes, we were able to narrow down the most common skills for a person in this position. We discovered that a lot of resumes listed customer-service skills, detail oriented and organizational skills.
If you're interested in becoming a prep room supervisor, one of the first things to consider is how much education you need. We've determined that 28.8% of prep room supervisors have a bachelor's degree. In terms of higher education levels, we found that 5.1% of prep room supervisors have master's degrees. Even though some prep room supervisors have a college degree, it's possible to become one with only a high school degree or GED.

Unless you're needed to stay later, typically you'll only work a 40-hour week as a supervisor. The majority of employers will only hire supervisors who have a bachelor's degree. Sometimes there are options for those with only a high school diploma, you just have to find the right employer.
This is not a regular job description that you see every day. A Dining Room Manager is responsible for facilitating communication between the kitchen and the dining area. They are also tasked with hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff and enforcing dining room policies. They are often seen in the hospitality industry: hotels, five-star restaurants, etc. They are tasked with the secondary responsibility of ensuring that customers are well greeted and their orders are well taken and delivered.
