Presbyterian Villages of Michigan company history timeline

1945

Founded in 1945 by the Presbytery of Detroit, Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM) is a faith-based, multi-site, 501(c)3 organization that serves seniors of all faiths.

1975

1975: 90 acres of land donated to PVM by the Michigan Osteopathic Assoc.; future home of Village of Oakland Woods

1975: Harbor Area Housing formed

1977

1977: Discussions and planning begin for Village of Holly Woodlands

1980

1980: Groundbreaking for Village of Oakland Woods

1981

1981: First residents move into Village of Oakland Woods

1983

1983: Presbyterian Village East (Village of East Harbor) opens

1989

PVM became a freestanding, separate organization in 1989.

1990

1990: Presbyterian Village Westland (now Village of Westland) opens

1991

1991: First resident moves into Presbyterian Village Holly (now Village of Holly Woodlands)

1993

1993: Enlarged Health Care Center at Village of East Harbor renamed "Doctor L. J. Peterson Health Care Center"

1993: PVM Support Trust created to provide philanthropic support for PVM.

1994

1994: PVM Board undertakes developments in Detroit

1995

1995: Opening of Peace Presbyterian Village (now Village of Peace Manor)

1996

1996: Planning begins for Village of Brush Park Manor Paradise Valley

1997

1997: First PVM housing community opens in Detroit

1998

1998: Village of Hillside opens

1999

1999: Mayor Dennis Archer speaks at groundbreaking for Village of Brush Park Manor Paradise Valley

2000

2000: Village of Warren Glenn welcomes first residents

2001

2001: First residents move into Village of Brush Park Manor Paradise Valley

2001: Historical Perry Farm property acquired

2002

2002: Assisted Living added at Village of Westland

2003

2003: First Perry Farm Village residents moves in

2005

2005: PVM leadership launches $2.5 million Green House campaign

2005: Village of Harmony Manor opens with 100% occupancy

2006

2006: Green Houses® open at Village of Redford

2007

2007: Grand opening of Village of Oakman Manor

2008

2008: Planning begins for Village of Sage Grove

2009

2009: First residents move into Village of St Martha’s

2010

2010: Groundbreaking for Village of Sage Grove

2011

2011: Village of Sage Grove is dedicated

2013

2013: Planning begins between PVM and Hartford Memorial Baptist Church for senior housing in NW Detroit

2014

2014: Senior Apartments at Thome Rivertown Neighborhood lease up in 3 hours
