This is a part OR full-time, hourly position where our staff is allowed to bring their creative talents to the curriculum. Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Educator during their work period in the classroom where needed.
  • Assist with art projects as needed
  • Help with lunchtime and assist during nap times
  • Integrates a passion for children with a love of experiential, child-led, hands-on learning.
  • Value a child as capable, resilient, and rich with both wonder and knowledge and instinctively discover with the children in their curiosity and investigations about the world.
  • Have the organizational and critical thinking skills to successfully manage an extended care classroom with another educator and partner with families in a values-based program.
  • Implement time-management and behavior management strategies to adhere to extended care classroom schedules including individual and group activities, classroom and playground times, enrichment projects, toileting/diapering, and snack
  • Implement open-ended questioning strategies and positive redirection, as well as provide facilitative rather than supervisory classroom skills

Job Requirements

Required:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and incorporate new philosophies and teaching strategies.
  • Ability to physically play with the children in the classroom and on the playground – including standing, walking, lifting (up to 35 lbs), bending, and sitting on the floor.
  • Works well collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in the use of iPads/computers for use in daily reports, parent communication updates, etc. and/or quick to learn.
  • Positive Attitude and Self Motivated.
  • Passion for creativity, a values-based learning environment, and an educational philosophy centered around children as Constructivist Learners.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (which may, depending on the position you are hired for, include an FBI fingerprint check).
  • Adhere to our Mission, Core Values, and all HR policies and procedures.

Preferred

  • CDA or College coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred; coursework in related fields also considered.

Compensation and Benefits

  • We’ll pay you an HOURLY salary ranging from $15-$18/hour depending on experience and education.
