The selected candidate will also be responsible for collaborating with full-time and part-time assistant teachers to ensure smooth transitions, similar expectations throughout the day, and efficient planning. Additionally, the teacher will facilitate open communication with families through online blogs, conferences, and daily updates. The Lead Early Childhood Teacher will report to the director. Since the Andy Taylor Center will function as part of the university, the lead teacher will also have opportunities to work with undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of capacities. Requirements:
The ECDI seeks candidates with experience and/or training in progressive approaches to early childhood education, specifically including Reggio-inspired teaching. Candidates should have an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or related fields as well as teaching experience with children birth - eight years old. The successful candidate will also have a current teaching license that includes preschool. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a deep knowledge of the development of young children, an understanding of emergent curriculum, and experience with documentation and assessment. The Teacher Assistant for New Hope Academy performs a variety of paraprofessional instructional support tasks which assists the teacher and/or other professional staff working with students in the classroom setting. SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the supervision of the School Principal in conjunction with the Central Office personnel who support alternative programs.
WORK CONDITIONS
This position is based within an alternative school setting and involves working directly with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors. The role requires regular physical activity, including moving throughout the classroom and playground, assisting students as needed, and supporting de-escalation efforts when necessary. The work follows standard school hours, although occasional after-school meetings or training sessions may be required.
