ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists the teaching team in planning, implementing and evaluating developmentally appropriate activities for young children including the following activities: Self Image, Language/Literacy Development, Music and Movement, Social Studies, Science, Math, Art, Large/Small Motor Activities, and In-Depth Projects.
• Assists with classroom coverage during lunchtime and when back-up coverage is needed.
• Assists the teaching team in developing a classroom environment that is a welcoming learning environment for children and their families
• Assists with supervision and interaction of children during all activities
• Develops strong partnerships with the families
• Shares responsibility for preparation and clean-up of all classroom activities
• Attends and participates in parent meetings, in-service trainings, and weekly team meetings.
• Assists with the implementation of the Reggio Emilia Philosophy, focusing on in depth studies and classroom explorations
• Maintains reports on children's growth and development
• Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or 60 semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with 6 semester hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age 6 or 1 year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with 6 semester in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age 6.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to read and write English proficiently. Candidates must regularly operate a word-processing system and therefore must be able to read, produce and transmit data on such a system
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Candidates must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and are frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Job Description
HRDI is seeking a Teacher's Aide to assist in the instruction of pupils and perform additional related duties as required.
In addition, the Teacher's Aide will:
Assist the teacher in the preparation and implementation of planning documents and the evaluation of student progress in academic and behavioral areas.
Provide students with direct assistance in achieving success throughout the teaching/learning process and meeting individual academic and behavioral goals.
Assist the teacher in providing students with a highly structure, safe, therapeutic environment that fosters cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth.
Assist with classroom management, such as organizing instructional and other materials for the program.
Provide instructional services in the computer laboratory, while under the direct supervision of a teacher and/principal.
Serves as the chief source of information for teacher substitutes assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
Immediately reports to certified staff any student behaviors, problems or special circumstances which are violations of the student handbook.
Communicate effectively using the designated methods, with parents as necessary regarding student progress, behavior, activities, and development.
Employ creative methods of instruction and utilize a variety of materials within the structure of the designated curriculum
Inform the principal whenever a student's attendance is unsatisfactory;
Provide the principal with an up-to-date copy of the schedule of classroom activities and lesson plans;
Assist in preparation of reports and individualized plans for students and ensure that all paper work in legible and submitted in a timely manner.
Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
Perform such other professional duties as may be assigned by the principal. (i.e. Accompanies students on field trips as necessary.)
Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students.

Qualifications
This position requires a minimum:
High school diploma required
One year of experience working with children (school-age preferred).
20/30 hour child development (preferred, but not required)
Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or has obtained an associate's (or higher) degree.
Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics as
appropriate.
Some understanding of the academic and behavioral needs of students and intervention strategies utilized to assist them in the teaching/learning process is preferred.
