WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
As a Lead Teacher, you'll lead engaging, structured, and play-based classroom activities that support the developmental needs of toddlers and preschoolers. You'll implement and supplement the Jump!-n-Learn and Gym-n-Learn curricula with your creativity, ensuring each activity is fun, educational, and fosters a love for learning. Your role includes maintaining safety by keeping students in sight, following safety protocols, sanitizing play areas and adhering to HHS Minimum Standards. You'll assist children in their physical, academic, and socio-emotional growth with patience, positive reinforcement, and enthusiasm. Additionally, you'll create a supportive environment for students, parents, and teachers, building strong relationships and promoting open communication. Throughout the school year and Camp Jump!, you'll manage a class with a student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1, creating a safe, joyful, and enriching environment where children can thrive.

Capable of responding quickly in emergency situations, such as evacuating children or performing CPR/first aid if needed.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and assist in the physical care and support of children as necessary.
Ability to actively engage in physical activities, including but not limited to gymnastics, yoga, and movement-based exercises with children.

g. Follow all established sanitation procedures for children, toys, furnishing and equipment;
h. Follow establish procedures for reporting all accidents, injuries and needed supplies, repairs and maintenance of facilities, furnishings, equipment and toys; and
i. Release each child only to the guardian designated in writing at the time the child is placed in the care of the Preschool
9. Ability to delay socializing or clustering with co-workers and volunteers and to limit break time to no more than fifteen minutes after any Mass and until after each child in attendance in the Preschool has been released to their designated guardian
10. Ability to abide by the moral and ethical norms of the Roman Catholic Church and to share in the same general covenant relationship to minister to the people of God and to model to the larger community the teachings of the Church; and
11. Such alternatives to the above requirements as the Preschool Director may deem reasonably appropriate and acceptable.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1. A relevant associate degree in early childhood education or other equivalent education and/or experience;
2. A minimum of 2 years of early childhood education experience;
3. Completion of the Diocesan Application for Ministry and receipt of a satisfactory background check;
4. Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

Responsibilities
As a member of the UPA teaching team, you will:
Instructional & Academic Responsibilities
Create hands-on, inquiry-based lessons that foster creativity, curiosity, engagement, and real-world problem solving.
Lead interdisciplinary projects that integrate core subjects with career pathways.
Incorporate at least one teacher-created or enhanced instructional activity weekly (enrichment, differentiation, or extension).
Consistently use student data to inform instruction and reteach plans.
Maintain 95% on-time submission of all lesson plans, assessments, and trackers.
Measurable Academic Expectations
Each student must grow at least 5 RIT points on MAP by December and 8 RIT points by May.
Maintain a classroom data tracker, updated weekly, showing progress toward academic goals.
Demonstrate adjustments to instruction based on MAP, formative assessments, exit tickets, and reteach data.
Classroom Culture & Student Engagement
Establish a positive, structured, and joyful classroom that supports learning and personal responsibility.
Design and implement monthly classroom culture initiatives (celebrations, challenges, incentives, or community-building activities).
Maintain strong student relationships and ensure consistent attendance, engagement, and participation.
Family & Community Partnership
Build meaningful, positive rapport with all families.
Complete a minimum of 5 positive parent contacts per week, logged in the school system.
Communicate proactively with families about student progress, behavior, and celebrations.
Collaboration & Professionalism
Actively participate in weekly PLC/team meetings, contributing ideas, resources, and problem-solving.
Respond to team, admin, and parent communication within 24 hours.
Implement coaching feedback within one week or the next lesson cycle, as appropriate.
Support school-wide initiatives, testing operations, and grade-level events.
Contribute to team culture by supporting at least two school-wide community events per semester.
Initiative & Creativity
Create at least one student-facing initiative per semester (club, event, enrichment opportunity, community service activity, classroom showcase).
Demonstrate independent initiative without waiting for administrative prompting.
Bring one instructional innovation or strategy to PLC per month.

Qualifications
To be successful at UPA, you must demonstrate:
Bachelor's Degree (required); degree in Education preferred
Project Based Learning Experience
3 or more years of classroom teaching experience
Texas Teaching Certification or willingness to pursue within first year at UPA
Passion for teaching, youth development, and student achievement
Ability to maintain a student-centered culture with strong relationships
Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
Growth mindset and openness to feedback and coaching
High level of collaboration, initiative, and personal responsibility
Commitment to equity for all students
Comfort with technology and willingness to integrate tools like VR, LMS systems, and digital trackers
