Federally funded initiatives provide early childhood education and related comprehensive services for low-income parents and children, and children with special needs. Early Head Start (EHS) provides services in centers and in homes to prenatal parents and parents with infants and toddlers. Head Start (HS) serves children ages three through five and their parents to provide a head start for school success.
The primary responsibility of the Preschool Teacher is implementation of an individualized and comprehensive early childhood education program for children and their families, and to provide supervision to classroom staff. This position is under the direct supervision of the Area Manager.
Essential Duties:
1. Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
2. Provides individualized and comprehensive early childhood education services in accordance with federal performance standards and current best practice in the field of early childhood education.
3. Provides leadership to classroom staff and assumes all the responsibilities of a supervisor for the staff that report directly to this position.
4. Is responsible for ensuring that all participants receive timely and appropriate developmental screenings.
5. Obtains, maintains, and coordinates the use of all physical resources available and ensures the maintenance of a safe, healthy, stimulating, developmentally appropriate learning environment that meets licensing and federal standards.
6. Is responsible for accurate and complete documentation, that all required confidentiality of consumer records is maintained, and that all procedures are in accordance with established standards.

Education/Training:
1. Must be at least 18 years old.

The Assistant Preschool Teacher works closely with the Head Teacher to support the Reggio-Emilia approach in order to implement developmentally appropriate practice and learning theory. The position includes the daily care of children, documentation of student learning, care of the environment, and collaboration with preschool team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Share in the team responsibility of supervising the children. In the absence of the Head Teacher, take the lead in maintaining a safe environment by managing the children.
Maintain an emotionally and physically safe learning environment. This applies to the classroom setting, outdoors, and the play structure.
Work collaboratively with the Pedagogista, Atelierista, and Head Teacher to support the documentation of the learning process in the following ways:

Such experience must demonstrate the applicant's proficiency in quantity baking which includes knowledge of types of ingredients used in baking, their properties, functions, and substitutions; standard procedures for adjusting standardized recipes to meet production needs, calculating bread equivalents, and determining baking times for non-standard batch sizes (e.g., 8 dozen cupcakes rather than 2 sheet cakes); the use, care, and safe handling of utensils, tools, and equipment used in baking; methods of handling and storing foods; and food and kitchen safety at sanitation practices. The overall knowledge and experience must conclusively demonstrate the applicant's ability to perform quantity baking required for the school food services program.
Non-Qualifying Experience: Applicants must have had experience in the whole process of baking in large quantities. Experience which is limited to serving food, cleaning, and washing dishes; only one phase of baking such as weighing, measuring, and combining ingredients, mixing and shaping dough; or other kinds of work not affording the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills of quantity baking will not be accepted as qualifying for the Specialized Experience requirements.
Substitutions Allowed:
* Possession of an associate's degree from an accredited community college in a food service/culinary arts program which included training in quantity baking may be substituted for all of the required experience.

Supplemental Information
Salary: The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.

Job Description PATCH is seeking an individual to monitor participants on the Child Care Food Program for compliance with USDA regulations.To be responsible for recruiting and providing technical assistance to individuals interested in becoming licensed family childcare providers and to USDA Food Program participants.Responsible for assisting practitioners with the Childcare Registry and identifying and supporting both practitioners' professional development goals as well as Health and Safety annual training requirements.
Duties
Food Program:
Performs support visits to participants on the Child Care Food Program.Includes documentation of reviews and recordkeeping.
Reads and evaluates participants' menus, including making adjustments and documenting changes.
Accurately fills out support visit forms.
Conducts home visits to ensure program compliance.
Conducts recruitment visits to interested providers and educates them on the benefits of the program.
Performs technical assistance to providers regarding the program.
Recruitment:
Maintains a tracking system that follows a potential family childcare provider from the initial phone call to becoming a childcare provider.
Conducts home visits to provide technical assistance to potential family childcare providers to assist them in offering quality childcare in their homes and towards their goal of becoming licensed by DHS.
Conducts outreach activities to identify potential family childcare providers and promote the business of family childcare.
Career Counselor:
Fields calls from practitioners in their respective island district regarding the Childcare Registry program.
Reviews Registry applications and necessary supporting documentation. Under the direction of the Registry Specialists, assesses applications for completeness and functions as a liaison between Registry Specialists and practitioners to assist and counsel practitioners in obtaining or updating their Childcare Registry.
Provides technical assistance to practitioners on how to complete the Registry forms.
Counsels' practitioners on available training opportunities and professional development programs to enhance work performance and support career development goals.
Performs outreach duties promoting and informing the public and practitioners of the Childcare Registry
Provide guidance to all in the field regarding the DHS annual Health Safety requirements.
Complete monthly reports.
Requirements
Must be organized and able to pay close attention to detail.
Must be able to demonstrate ability to work independently or as a team and work under minimal supervision.
Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner with excellent verbal and written communication skills.Requires working to established procedures and the ability to be prompt and on time
Must possess a valid Hawaii driver's license and clean driving record with access to an insured vehicle.The employee is required to use their personal vehicle and must be willing to travel to various locations for home visits.
Must be able to pass a background check.
The employee must occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills and Knowledge:
Computer and basic office administration skills. Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
Basic nutrition knowledge.
Knowledge of the state's childcare licensing requirements is highly preferred.
Nice To Haves
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in early childhood education or related is preferred.
Experience as a childcare provider preferred.
