Scope of Position:The Lead Teacher plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities for the children in their classroom on a weekly basis. He or she is also responsible for maintaining a safe, nurturing and educational environment, while working cooperatively with parents and staff.
Time Commitment:Full Time/40 hours per week Classification:Hourly, non-exempt
Typical Duties:
Oversee the planning and implementation of appropriate activities for the children each week in science, math, art, language, music, religion, motor development and multi-cultural projects.
Incorporate worship, Bible stories, and scripture into the classroom
Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans for review to the Director prior to posting
Create a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment
Maintain discipline in the classroom while treating the children with kindness, dignity and respect (abiding by the Licensing Rules for Childcare Centers)
Set clear, fair and consistent limits for the children as outlined in the Parent Handbook
Help the children with conflict resolution strategies through modeling skills and problem-solving skills
Maintain appearance, dcor and safe learning environment for the classroom
Be responsible for student assessments, observations and conduct parent-teacher conferences
Greet and engage in positive interactions with parents, children and other guests
Attend staff meetings, parent functions, and outreach events as requested by the Director
Take attendance daily, including meal sheets, or delegate this to the Classroom Assistant
Eat meals together and interact with the children
Administer medication as needed
Communicate with families daily on the electronic app.
Supervise the class on the playground, in the gym, at specials and on field trips.
Ensure that all state regulations are followed pertaining to the children and the classroom.
Purchase small teaching supplies for the classroom and submit receipts
Meet with the classroom assistants for evaluations, goal setting, team planning and delegation of duties.
Meet with the Director regularly for evaluation and goal setting.
Attend required annual training and CPR.

Role Overview
As a Teacher Assistant, you are responsible for
assisting the Teacher in ensuring that a safe, healthy and organized environment is created for both children and adults

Key Responsibilities

Reporting: Assist in maintaining accurate records including but not limited to attendance, CACFP mealtime documentation, in-Kind, communicable disease reports, participate in planning, conducting and documenting home visits and parent teacher conferences, share child outcomes, and evaluate progress towards individual child and family goals, reporting and suspected child abuse or neglect.
Communication: Communicate positively with children, parents/guardians, teaching team, support staff, community partners, and supervisor.
Collaboration: Work professionally and cooperatively with staff, parents/guardians, volunteers, service providers and community partners to ensure smooth operations and address any concerns.
Emergency Preparedness: Be familiar with emergency procedures in order to respond effectively in the case of an emergency.
Professional Development: Actively participate in professional development and training opportunities that ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Child Day Care Licensing Regulations.

Lead Teacher at Kenowa Hills Early Childhood Center
SCHEDULE: 36-40 Hours/Week
RATE OF PAY: Per Salary Schedule

Child supervision, interacting with children and monitoring play between children.
Ability to use appropriate tones & language with children & ability to be caring & nurturing to all children.
Establish and maintain a daily routine suitable for the children's needs, adjusting as needed.
Preparing, implementing & posting lesson plans containing all components of a developmentally appropriate program. Planning large and small group activities based on the children's cognitive abilities.
Implementing daily learning centers to incorporate math, sensory (science), language arts, large and fine motor activities.
Overseeing the evaluation of the classroom program and child assessment.
Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with parents, students and staff.
Talk with parents on child's day-to-day behaviors and accomplishments.
Knowledge of and compliance with state and federal rules and regulations, as well as program rules.
Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks, including snack preparation and cleanup.
Attend monthly staff meetings and other necessary training sessions.
Must be very punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
Administer student medications and maintain medication records as needed.
Regular and consistent attendance is required as an essential function.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Though it is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements of all Lead Teacher at the Daycare & Learning Center, the general content of and requirements for the performance of this position are noted below:
Must be able to bend, squat, and sit on the floor in working with students. The ability to lift students and attend to personal care needs if necessary in special needs assignments (i.e. toilet and feeding assistance).
Must be able to stand for long periods.
Ability to work in an environment where the noise level is generally moderate, but can be high at times and temperatures are varied.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Early Learning Assistant Teacher will assist in the planning, developing, and implementing of classroom activities for infant, toddler, or preschool programs. This position requires on site, face-to-face leadership. Center hours vary by location, but generally require flexible scheduling between 6 AM and 6 PM.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans
Actively engages with children in the classroom
Assists with daily parent communication
Prepares materials for daily activity
Maintains records of attendance, arrival, and departure times
Maintains supervision of children
Assists Site Supervisor with parent-teacher conferences as needed
Efficiently communicates with classroom teaching team
Performs any other functions deemed to be necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association
COMPENSATION
$14.62 - $18.28 ; Non-Exempt, Full-Time (40 hours/week) or Part-Time (up to 25 hours/week)
