Assistant Teacher
Primer 4.6
Preschool teacher job in Florida
Fixing our K-12 education system is a civilizationally-important problem. We believe that all of our problems - including the ones that dominate the headlines - are downstream of education.
We have a simple thesis on how to solve it: empower 1,000's of educators to launch microschools in their communities.
We believe the historical tradeoff between price (tuition) and quality is a false dichotomy.
PrimerOS automates and eliminates much of the costs of traditional schools. Microschools have a structural advantage - asset-light real estate - which means much lower capex and opex. You put it together, and you get something that's never existed before: a world-class education that's accessible to normal American families and can rapidly scale.
At Primer, we believe that kids are remarkable -
and our current system is underestimating them. We need a new system, one where we value what kids learn both outside and inside the classroom. Where they learn how to solve real problems, not pass tests. Where they learn how to think, instead of what to think.
About the role
Assistant Teachers, or what we call "Studio Guides," work alongside the K-2 Primer Leader to facilitate a strong microschool experience for kids each day. They assist in leading both instruction and culture and have the opportunity to grow as innovative educators within Primer.
This application is for future openings at one of our
15 campuses
across Alabama, Arizona, and Florida.
Responsibilities
Classroom culture: You'll build strong relationships with each student, execute routines and expectations, and assist in leading a studio culture that fosters students' growth as independent learners. You'll support this strong culture throughout the day, including during the lunch and recess block.
Teaching small groups: You'll notice when kids get stuck and support them in small groups and one-on-one. You'll work with the Primer Leader to think outside the box, curate, and create engaging experiences tailored to students' academic needs and passions. Students will range from kindergarten to second grade.
Maintaining the physical space and operations: You'll work with the Primer Leader to maintain a clean, organized, and inspiring physical environment.
Communicating with families: You'll warmly welcome families and assist the Primer Leader in sharing progress updates with families.
About you
You have a passion for working with kids. You're excited to think outside-the-box and give students an engaging school experience.
You love kids and families for who they are and enjoy helping students find ways to explore their passions and curiosities.
You love learning. You love to learn and grow personally and professionally, and you are energized by helping students foster that same love.
Families adore you and communicating with families comes naturally.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
1 or more years of experience working with children in some capacity.
Must be willing to report to work in person.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
This role is fully onsite and eligible for benefits.
