Position: Special Education Compliance Coordinator
This is a full time, 10 month "Teacher on Assignment" position that supports Special Education teachers by ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and evaluations for PUSD-enrolled students, private school students, and voucher students. Responsibilities include overseeing best practices and deadlines to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation. Please see for more details.
*Annual Salary: $54,911 - $63,311 (Base pay + 301 Payment). PUSD bases salary placement on years of prior experience and level of education. See below for breakdown:

CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY:
This class is the four class in a five-level Transportation Support Series devoted to supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Dysart Unified School District's transportation system.
Incumbent oversees the day to day inspection, maintenance, and repair of buses and fleet vehicles, supervise and assign work to mechanics according to established standards, ensure safe work practices are followed, assist mechanics in trouble shooting; provide information to supervisor and others; install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all technology equipment; oversee and maintain system used in issuance of automated fueling and security cards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Collaborates with Fleet Maintenance Manager in regards to priorities for scheduled inspections, maintenance, and repairs of buses and other District vehicles.
• Communicates with Fleet Maintenance Manager concerning the status of and interruptions to the completion of work assigned to mechanics.
• Assigns work to mechanics, monitors quality, and supervises performance to assure compliance with applicable Federal and State safety regulations.
• Monitors fleet maintenance staffs' and visitors' compliance with safety practices and informs Fleet Maintenance Supervisor of corrective action taken.
• Oversees inspection, maintenance, performs repair, and installation-removal of specialized equipment, such as bus-vehicle surveillance systems, Zonar GPS units and related equipment; and informs Fleet Maintenance Manager of irregularities and problems.
• Responds to service calls to repair or arrange for towing buses or other District vehicles.
• Assists mechanics with diagnosing and troubleshooting various automotive, mechanical, and related problems.
• Assists in assessing breakdowns, accidents, and emergency situations; takes corrective action; and road-tests buses and other District vehicles as necessary.
• Assists in evaluating vehicle inspection reports and input of vehicle repairs performed on work order into vehicle maintenance software programs as necessary.
• Assists in maintenance of accurate records of fleet repairs, repair costs, parts procurement, vehicle warranties, and etc., to comply with regulatory requirements.
• Oversees software system used to issue HID Proxy Card, Zonar card, and related devices integrated with automated fuel dispensing, building access, and related records.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
• Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and five years of related experience as a journey-level mechanic performing a full range of fleet repairs on heavy duty and/or commercial vehicles. Experience in a lead or supervisory position is desirable.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid Arizona Commercial Driver License, Class B with P endorsement, without restrictions, or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, and satisfactory driving record.
• A.S.E. School Bus Certification preferred.
• Certification of completion of technical training in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Follows the guidelines for exceptional children as set forth in the State of Arizona's Special Education Rules and Regulations and aids school personnel on interpretation and implementation of these guidelines
* Conducts diagnostic studies to identify child's needs, limitations, and potentials, observing child in classroom and at play, studying school records, consulting with parents and school personnel, and administering and interpreting diagnostic findings; assesses strengths and weaknesses of referred students and recommends placement for all exceptional student through these testing and diagnostic practices
* Deals sensitively with confidential information
* Interprets the school psychological services and special education programs; provides or and assists with in-service training
* Prepares and submits required reports
* Works with a variety of school personnel, including students, via the consultation model to assist pupils to achieve personal, social, and emotional adjustments
* Collaborates with staff regarding research to aid in introduction of programs in schools to meet current psychological, educational, and sociological needs of children
* Refers individuals to community agencies to secure medical, vocational, or social services for child or family
* Serves as consultant to staff, the school board, the Superintendent, administrative committees, and parent teacher groups in matters involving psychological services within the educational system or school
* Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings
* Cooperates with community health and social welfare programs
* Keeps abreast of new developments in the field, and participates in in-service meetings
* Is involved in the planning and development of additional special education services

* Conduct speech and language screenings without interpretation, using screening protocols specified by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
* Provide direct treatment assistance, including feeding for nutritional purposes to patients, clients or students except for patients, clients or students with dysphagia, identified by the supervising speech-language pathologist by following written treatment plans, individualized education programs, individual support plans or protocols developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
* Document patient, client or student progress toward meeting established objectives as stated in the treatment plan, individual support plan or individualized education program without interpretation of the findings, and report this information to the supervising speech-language pathologist.
* Assist the speech-language pathologist in the collecting and tallying of data for assessment purposes, without interpretation of the data.
