A Day in the Life:

The Packaging Machine Operator, under the general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous operation of snack packaging machinery.

• Maintains an adequate supply of roll stock and ensures all packaging materials are available for each machine.
• Set up and write new programs for bag makers.
• Writes and/or edits machine micro logic as needed to maintain an efficient and low waste operation.
• Creating and modifying code dates.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Sets up and makes minor scale repairs and adjustments.
• Perform span calibration and/or adjustments on scales, adjust scales linkages so it opens and shuts correctly, make minor adjustments to formers.
• Efficiently operates packaging equipment which may include case sealers and robot cells. This includes but is not limited to: machine setups, troubleshooting, changeovers, proper running, procedural adjustments, sanitation cleanup, preventative maintenance and shutdown.
• Properly plans ahead for machine changeovers and efficiently changing from one product item to another.
• Monitors and adjusts each machine to ensure proper cut off of film and bags have proper end seals and back seals as required.
• Ensures machines are running at standard speeds.
• Monitors product appearance and adheres to weight control program.
• Identifies and resolves packaged product quality issues.
• Properly accounts for product run off and handles this product accordingly; sorts through and reworks all good product
• Keeps machines and work areas clean, wipes packaging machines off and blows down area when required to do so.
• Immediately reports any maintenance problems to appropriate technician and/or supervisor.
• Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.

The Production Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining yogurt packaging equipment to ensure the efficient and accurate manufacturing of yogurt products. This role involves overseeing the production line process, monitoring equipment performance, and adhering to quality and safety standards.
The Production Operator hourly rate starts at $20.90 plus shift differentials. Shift differentials for 2nd shift (10%) and 3rd shift (15%.)

Key responsibilities for this position include:
Operate yogurt production machines (filling or packaging) according to standard operating procedures, including set up and adjustment of machine settings before production runs.
Monitor and control all filling weight, codes, seals, and lids/cups throughout the packaging cycle including the palletizer and case pushers.
Perform code and weight checks at specified intervals during the packaging run.
Perform routine maintenance tasks on yogurt production equipment, such as cleaning, sanitizing, and replacing parts, to ensure optimal performance and food safety compliance.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or process deviations, adjusting as needed to maintain production efficiency and product integrity.
Conduct quality checks on batches at regular intervals to verify taste, texture, and adherence to specifications.
Adhere to all testing procedures and provide required samples to quality assurance for appraisal prior to all finished product being packaged.
Monitor and control all cups needed for production run, and resupply when needed
Maintain accurate production records, including batch records, equipment logs, and quality control documentation.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
Collaborate with other team members, including production supervisors, quality assurance technicians, and maintenance staff, to optimize production processes and resolve issues.

The Opportunity
The Machine Operator is responsible for the proper and safe operation of different machinery used in the processing and packaging floor, while adhering to quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. The Machine Operator must follow and adhere to all company process procedures and controls. The Machine Operator will report to and work closely with the Production Manager and Production Lead on shift.

Operate Processing and Packaging Equipment: Operate various processing and packaging machines according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Maintain Operation Flow: Operate and monitor lines, removing or shifting material and/or finished product as necessary to facilitate proper flow and machine operation.
Product and Package Changeovers: Perform changeovers on equipment, labelers and date coders following procedures.
Machine Setup: Properly set up at startup and perform necessary setting adjustments on equipment throughout the shift.

The Machine Operator in our Spoke NA1 metals recycling plant located in Mesa, Arizona will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining machinery used in the recycling process.
