Production Operator (Days) 2-2-3 schedule This position is responsible for daily operations of the production floor; ensuring the shift meets established safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements. Essential Functions Responsible for daily activities of the production line(s), ensuring product adheres to Niagara's standard of safety, quality, and throughput. Accurately completes applicable quality and production reports hourly. Physical and visual inspection of product is required to prevent non-conforming goods. Correctly reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members and shift leadership. Adheres to the highest standards of company and plant safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations. Abides by Niagara's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Standards at all times. Maintains general housekeeping in all areas of production and additional areas assigned by plant leadership. Maintains appropriate level of raw materials as required, to ensure production lines incur minimal downtime. Demonstrates the aptitude and skill to work in all assigned areas of production; troubleshoots minor production line issues and performs relief duties when required. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Ability to work 12 hour shifts, day or night, on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule or schedule as dictated by production demand. Job DescriptionThe primary function of a Machine Operator Packaging position is to set-up, monitor and adjust packaging equipment to bag and/or box finished products. Maintain proper weights, quality requirements and equipment checks/tests. A Machine Operator Packaging position is required to assist technicians in the tear down and assembly of bagger scales/conveyors. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Works well with others, fostering a team atmosphere. Maintains a clean, safe work area at all times. Comply with all GMP requirements. Perform metal detector checks as required. Troubleshoot and correct basic equipment problems. Ensure all code dates are correct. Complete film changes on bagging machines and load boxes into packaging machines. Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and submit to supervisor. Monitors the equipment for any maintenance-related items that may affect the efficient production of quality products. Monitors the equipment and the packaging procedure for safety and reports any issues to the supervisor. Assist in the elimination of product waste packaging (over pack, product spilling from transfers, etc.) Communicate changes to the incoming shift. Able to set up your line and equipment.Report all operational issues to supervisor. Complete training classes as required. Ensure any packaging material is returned to staging area if not being used by incoming shift (film, shrink film, etc.) Submit work orders when needed, with all the details concerning the problem. Assist or oversee the training of new employees. Assist with changeovers, machine setup and cleaning. Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations. Ability to read and record written instructions from an operator packaging check sheet. Perform SPC (computer) data entry according to established process control procedures and product specifications. Perform all appropriate Quality and Food Safety testing and documentation as required. Ability to work independently. Notify Supervision of any issues.
