The tasks include getting supplies for presses, preparing stock, assisting in press setup and press cleanup. The operator in this position must be able to operate the Aerator-Jogger. Uses forklift to support the Pressroom and Paper Processing operations by supplying raw material, removing waste material, transporting processed material and includes the wrapping and identification of unused raw material. This includes handling rolls of paper for the Web press. Level I Pressmen are responsible for setup and operation of the back ends of Web and Harris presses. They should be able to make print registration and quality adjustments. Level I Pressmen must know how to perform pre and post Make-Ready tasks including gumming plates and preparing inks. Assists press crew on roller changes, press maintenance and press cleaning. Required to wash plates, blankets and back cylinders before, during and after press runs. This position requires mathematical and mechanical skills and the ability to recognize color differences. Pressman Level I is responsible for understanding and following all printing department QSAMs. Pressmen must master all Level I tasks, have satisfactory quality and production performance as well as a good attendance record before being given the opportunity to start training for the next level. May perform other appropriate work within the Plant. Supports and participates in Continuous Improvement, Safety, Quality, and Environmental programs and/or other operational strategies.
