Huntsman is seeking a Production Operator supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Los Angeles, CA. This position will report to the Production Supervisor. Job Scope Huntsman is currently recruiting for a Production Operator at our chemical manufacturing site in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will operate plant equipment and chemical processes safely and efficiently to achieve production output goals. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the production process and its supporting operations and apply that knowledge to maintain efficient and safe production activities. In summary, as the Production Operator, you will: Operate and monitor chemical processing equipment such as vessels, mixers, reactors, and dischargers for the manufacture of epoxy and polyurethane formulations. Safely handle chemicals, adhering to all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and written/verbal instructions in English. Perform processes that include heating, cooling, vacuum, pressure, nitrogen purging, and exothermic reactions. Fill containers, clean equipment and tools, and perform general housekeeping to maintain a safe and organized environment. Operate a forklift and handle drums as part of daily activities. Work independently and collaboratively with other team members to meet production goals. Participate in company-required training and support Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives. Qualifications You must possess the following minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Compensation: Starting rate for Production Operator is $35.00/hr. plus $2.00/hr. shift differential for hours worked from 2:00pm-6:00am. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Machine Operators I must have a strong understanding of the machines they work with and are responsible for ensuring our company produces on-time quality parts for our customers. In-depth training may be required to prepare a Machine Operator for their daily duties. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Ability to start and stop the machine safely without supervision. • Ability to place unfinished parts and remove finished parts from machine safely. • Monitor machine operation. • Check part quality with designated measurement instruments. Understand when and how to stop machine safely. • Assist in the maintenance, and repair of machinery. • Operate tools and machinery to aid the manufacturing process. • Perform periodic checks on equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise. • Oversee the machine while executing tasks and make necessary adjustments to improve results. • Produce quality parts according to manufacturing targets and schedules as directed by the Plant Manager. • Record all machine actions and log completed parts for record keeping. • Assume responsibility for ensuring the duties of this position are performed in a safe and efficient manner. • Keep a clean and orderly work area. • Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Plant Manager. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be willing to learn and improve to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • High school diploma or GED required. Adequate work experience may be substituted in lieu of diploma or GED. • Willingness to follow written or oral work instructions and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time. PREFERRED SKILLS • Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility. • Familiarity of various manufacturing tools and machinery including but not limited to facers, lathes, CNC's, and other mechanical machinery. • Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish. • Ability to work well with others, be organized and detail-oriented. • Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or walk for long periods of time. • Willingness to work in shifts that may include early or late hours, weekends, or overtime if necessary. This position is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of bindery and print finishing machinery in a high-volume print and mail processing environment. Full-time Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 6:30 pm Overtime is scheduled as needed, and could require coming in earlier, staying later, and working weekend shifts during high-volume production cycles.
