Position Overview:
Tasks
* Follows job production schedule by using the Production Sheet to verify accuracy and records on Makeready Checklist.
* Prepares next print job by checking production schedule for project #, picking up plates from staging area, checking each plate for color codes and plate codes, and completing Make Ready Check List and verifying correct board grade from Docket sheet.
* Assists with changeovers by removing all printing plates, cleaning and replacing printing plates.
* Loads paper onto press and recording time of splice onto Roll Sheet.
* Manually splices rolls occasionally, hand cutting, and taping rolls together at any part of equipment.
* Monitors and cleans ink on impression cylinders by using alcohol and rag, and manually turn the cylinder to clean off ink.
* Monitors bar codes on cartons by using scanner to verify UPC code is printed properly.
* Monitors running roll for defects and alignment while hanging new roll.
* Report any defects to Quality.
* Performs abhesive checks.
* Performs quality checks at start-up and every hour by checking functions and completing Quality Check Sheet to include date, time, Skid #, board issues, fold & dips, ink drips, varnish, adhesive, scum, UPC code, Cut to Scores, etc.
* Prints WIP label from WIP tracking system.
* Prepares completed Skids by covering in plastic sheet and attaching skid label.
* Prepares print units by cleaning blankets and hanging plates for new jobs.
* Troubleshoots cartons kicked out of register by catching manually, reviewing for issues, discarding cartons, and notifying crew leader/operator.
* Maintains area cleanliness.
* Performs frequent visual checks on printed cartons by pulling several cartons from each stream and checking for color bars, abhesive, defects, scum, color variation, and laminate in seal areas.
* Performs preventive maintenance on equipment by cleaning and scraping using solvents and tools.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Must have high school diploma or GED
* Standing 8-12 hours per shift on concrete
* Lifting up to 30lbs on occasion when hand and waste stacking most to all of the shift
* Turning while carrying 40lbs about 40 times per shift
* Stretching to max width 40" to tear tape 30 times a shift
* Moving 30 rolls per shift with ergo roll movers
* Kneeling on hard concrete surface to splice web, occasionally for 10 minute periods
* Pushing a 40 lb. load five times per shift
* Placing up to 40lbs load to floor level five times per shift

Frequent and continuous light to moderate lifting, repetitive handling and maneuvering of awkward metal pieces is required. Walking, reaching, bending, and good eye, hand, foot coordination is all necessary.
Comfortable with exposure to possible hazards, multiple pinch points and general safety issues associates with sheet metal fabrication. Works in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy area.

Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to set-up, maintain, operate, test and inspect product, and perform repairs on associated departmental equipment in conformance to FDA, GMP's, ISO 13485 standards and finished product specifications. Minimize scrap generation from processes and promote workplace safety. Provide process information to management so production equipment may be optimized and/or process corrected. Assist with training of personnel to perform various functions within each assigned area. Facilitate work flow and ensure product quality is maintained.
Shift Details
* 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm - Monday through Friday
Accountabilities
* Perform scheduled preventive maintenance as assigned by supervisor according to the Preventive Maintenance schedule.
* Adhere to plant policies/procedures, department EHS rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), ISO 13485 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures. Shall operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees/visitors and operate in a manner that conserves energy, natural resources and protects the environment.
* Complete all pertinent paperwork pertaining to the finished product being produced according to established guidelines in the manufacturing procedures.
* Prepare and maintain required maintenance equipment records. Use of micrometers, dial calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to perform dimensional and physical inspections. Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
* Uses ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 sampling standard, part drawings, and specifications to determine inspection and testing required as well as acceptable quality levels.
* Selects products for inspection evaluation at specified stages in production process, performs various visual, dimensional, performance, mechanical, electrical, or chemical inspections per required characteristics.
* Report any unusual circumstances to supervisor and perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
* Basic computer skills with windows based programs.
* Responsible for the observation of department regulations and to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required; must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tag-out trained.
* Transport hazardous waste to accumulation areas. Complete Annual Hazardous Waste (RCRA) refresher training.
* Cross-train and support where needed throughout the facility.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED preferred. One year certificate from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology); or equivalent combination of training and experience.
* 3-4 years medical device manufacturing related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.

* Monitor machinery and process goals during shift and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimum performance of processes.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunction and either repair equipment or arrange for technical support to complete repairs.

Production Operator II
Performs a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of production processes and responsible for day to day operations associated with the production lines.
