Scope: Perform duties setup and operate punch press to cut, specified metal sheets to defined specifications and set and operate a range of metal fabrication equipment to cut, notch, and shape metal parts, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice. Essential Duties: Work from job packets, bill of materials (BOM), blueprints, drawings, and/or production schedule. Perform machine startup and shutdown procedures on punch press equipment. Position work piece onto table with hands or crane, using vacuum system to hold piece in place. Layout cuts on computer and select tooling according to thickness and type of metal. Interpret job information to determine specific material requirements. Layout operations to maximize material utilization. Label completed parts with appropriate part number. Remove chips and drop from parts and staging table. Determine sequence of operation for each process and edit program based on sequence. Rack and move pieces to staging area. Verify conformance of first piece to specifications using calipers, protractors, gauges, and measuring tape. Gauge work pieces randomly through run to ensure maintenance of settings and make adjustments as necessary. Perform quality checks, complete check lists, verify counts, record time per job and ensure compliance with production schedules. Submit production documentation as required. Stage completed parts for movement or move to subsequent operations to maintain workflow. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Take responsibility for the physical inventory of materials. Request material reorders as necessary. Other Duties: Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements. JOB SUMMARY: A Blanker Operator is responsible for maintaining the operation of the Blanking Department by producing blanks required by the blanker schedule. Blanker Operators will inspect the assigned blanker (machine) to ensure all guards are in place, assess roll alignment, brakes, housekeeping and paperwork before starting production. Blanker Operator will ensure quality through visual inspection of the blank along with making machine adjustments on an as needed basis. The Blanker Operator is required to complete roll changes or print changes on the machine and will also unstack the blanks from the machine and load them onto a blank cart. Blanker Operators monitor the quality of the blanks and print quality continuously during production and will report potential quality issues. All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging International work rules, code of conduct and safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles. WORK DEVICES/TOOLS consist of the following: cutting knife, cutting gloves, pusher, conversion cart & miscellaneous tools, hoist, pallet jack, stretch wrap, tape, blank carts & covers EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: 1-2 years' experience manufacturing/industrial machine operator experience required Must be able to walk to retrieve blank cart and take the cart to their work station and to the warehouse throughout their shifts as needed. Surfaces are mostly concrete. Prioor experience utilizing pallet jack - highly preferred Must be able to use pallet jacks when moving full carts as well as to move paper rolls. The maximum force exerted to push/pull a cart is approximately 35 pounds of force (as measured with a push/pull gauge). The distance an item is pushed is approximately 5 feet - 30 feet, depending on the location of the employees work station. Must be able to climb on small step ladders to remove paper jams in the machines. This occurs rarely throughout the shift. The Operator may also need to climb the back of the machine to make adjustments. Must be able to forward bend momentarily up to 90 degrees. Much of the bending performed, however, is slight forward bending for brief periods. Must be able to reach between waist and shoulder height which occurs occasionally throughout the shift basis. MPI Exeter is seeking experienced Machine Operators to join our Pipe Fabrication and Machining operation. The Machine Operators are responsible for measuring, threading, and adjusting flange fit and facing the flange on pieces of ductile or steel pipe. The position will require the use of all types of manual machine tools, such as lathes and threaders. Work also includes operating the machines and cranes to move pipe in and out of machining centers. Scope of Responsibilities 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members. Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection. Responsible for cleanliness of the assigned work area. Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles. Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Waterman Safety Management Program. Inform management of any deviations from this program. Identify fabrication requirements for each piece of pipe Operate forklift to move pipe inside/outside the plant. Operate pipe cut off saw. Place pipe in machine, center the pipe, and tighten for work. After the pipe is in place, the operator will machine tapered threads into the pipe. During this process, the machine operator is responsible for verifying measurements, such as thread depth and accurate taper. After the threads are cut the operator tests the flange to make sure it screws onto the pipe accurately. Applies glue on pipe and flange and uses the machine to tighten the flange onto the pipe. For Threaders - Remove pipe from machine and move to next processing operation. For Lathes - run the cutting tool across the surface of the face of the flange to flush fit the flange onto the pipe Operator will work with pipe and flanges primarily from 3” to 24” in diameter, and lengths from 6 inches to 18 feet long. Operator will be proficient with quality and able to meet prescribed production output objectives for the work center. Paint and package finished product.
