Under general supervision, crossing guards will lawfully stop traffic using appropriate signs and equipment, serviceable to traffic flow and safely assisting pedestrians/children across the street. All crossing guards are expected to instruct when appropriate, correct safety habits to drivers and/or children whom they come in contact with.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitoring and assisting of school age children in crossing designated intersections within the limits of Logan City. It will be necessary for the individual to be on site 45 minutes prior to school beginning/ending and then remain a minimum of 15 to 30 minutes after school has begun/ended. Required to work set time frame; usually one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. APPLICANTS: This position posting will establish a hiring roster that will be used to fill seasonal vacancies. This position may or may not have an available vacancy at the time a person submits an application. Applications received for this position are reviewed on an on-going basis by the hiring department and will be considered for each vacancy as they become available throughout the season until the deadline date.
SCHEDULED HOURS: Working hours will be 8 to 10 hours weekly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of a standard senior high school or equivalent. Must be in good physical condition, including sight and hearing. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate recommended. Ability to judge time and distance in relationship to approaching traffic.
ABILITIES:
Must be reliable, dependable and possess a sense of responsibility for the safety of children. Must be of good moral character. Ability to communicate efficiently both verbally and in writing. Must be able to establish good rapport with children. Must possess a valid Utah driver's license and provide own transportation to job site.
