6, 1977, as a mission of Northway Baptist Church and a dream of the Dallas Baptist Association—which saw the tremendous need for a vibrant church in North Dallas.
In 1979, Prestonwood moved to its new home at Arapaho and Hillcrest roads in North Dallas.
Prestonwood continued to grow, and in 1989, the church experienced its most defining moment when Doctor Jack Graham accepted the call as pastor.
God led the church to 140 acres in Plano, and in May 1999, Prestonwood held its first service at 6801 W. Park Blvd.
In March 2006, after months of prayer with church leaders, Senior Pastor Graham shared with the congregation a vision for expansion that included plans for a second location.
That defender of religious freedom may also be remembered as the church where a pastor had to resign in 2008 because he was caught soliciting sex from a minor.
After meeting in home groups, and then in the Prosper High School gym, in October 2008, our church family celebrated the dedication of the new facility on 127 acres on Prosper Trail, just east of the Dallas North Tollway.
In 2009, Prestonwood launched a weekly Worship Service to reach Spanish-speaking communities.
In the fall of 2012, an expansion project that doubled the existing space was completed to keep up with the growing congregation.
And on Easter Sunday of 2017, the Lewisville Campus was officially launched for Prestonwood en Español.
