Utilizing epidemiological methods, the CIC Certified Infection Preventionist will work under the general direction of the Administrative Director of Quality Management and Infection Prevention and Control Subcommittee. The CIC Certified Infection Preventionist will coordinate infection surveillance, education, administrative, and control measures to assure that the transmission risks and complications of infections and infectious diseases are minimized to medical center clients, personnel, and visitors.
In this role, the Infection Control Preventionist will be required to function in a wide array of responsibilities including statistician, educator, consultant, improvement coordinator, and evaluator of practice. The Infection Prevention Coordinator will be conversant with the infection hazards of all patient care services in order to be able to recommend and evaluate the effect of prevention strategies.
The CIC Certified Infection Preventionist must be fully knowledgeable with all existing and emerging regulations and guidelines specific to the protection of patients and staff from preventable infection events. The Infection Control Preventionist will be trained and capable in epidemiological methods to detect infections and infection hazards.

The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for an Overdose Prevention Strategies Coordinator.
