Position Summary
This actuarial leader is responsible for overseeing the development, validation, and delivery of key medical cost assumptions used in annual pricing and bid development for Individual Medicare Advantage. This role ensures all assumption models are completed accurately and delivered on time to the actuarial pricing team. The leader will collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners to confirm data integrity, review adjustments, and validate projection reasonability. In addition, the leader will ensure all medical cost assumptions are CMS compliant and account for regulatory changes. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the individual will manage and coordinate work across a team of supporting actuaries, ensuring alignment, quality, and timely execution. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role regularly presents results, insights, and recommendations to actuarial and business leadership.

The typical pay range for this role is:
$118,450.00 - $260,590.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.

Responsibilities may include:
Input and manipulate data in Excel workbooks
Perform data analysis using Excel, VBA, SAS, R, Python
Predictive modeling using GLM and non-linear methods to support rate analyses
Prepare and submit state regulatory filing support
Prepare loss reserve analyses
Populate capital loss model templates
Coordinate with Consultants and other Analysts as a project team to deliver client reports and deliverables

Key Responsibilities
* Perform quarterly studies and roll forward analyses and present to the Legacy reserving board
* Implement a "performance board" model across the Group
* Strengthen the reserve-claims feedback loop and instill rigorous tracking and dialog around quarterly AvE emergence and monthly early signals
* Run actuarial-led deep dives for any problematic or uncertain areas of the portfolio
* Translate claim events into reserve implications and capital impact
* Support pricing of externally contemplated deals (LPTs/retros) as needed
* Develop granular IBNR allocation methodologies to gauge profitability of anticipated liability acceleration strategies (e.g., policy buybacks)
* Translate reserving and claims signals into actionable run-off insights and interventions
* Enhance transparency and credibility for the Senior Leadership team and rating agencies
Required Experience
* 10+ years actuarial experience and an ACAS or FCAS designation
* Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline preferred, including but not limited to Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science
