Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) working in VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) or Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), will adhere to infection control, biohazard handling, and PPE protocols to ensure a safe environment. Physicians must follow HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and VA workplace safety policies, including radiation safety, ergonomic best practices, and emergency response procedures.
Physicians will manage high patient volumes, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide care to aging veterans, combat-injured patients, and those with PTSD or mental health challenges. Workplace violence prevention training and security measures are in place for safety. All incidents, exposures, or patient safety concerns must be reported per VA compliance and occupational health requirements.
This position requires passing an extensive background check.
Qualifications:
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
Active and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a practicing physician in a primary care setting preferred.
Familiarity with VA policies, procedures, and electronic health records (EHR/CPRS) is a plus.
Ability to pass a background check and credentialing process required by the VA.

DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY:
The SCMG Hospitalist Program providers address the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of hospitalized patients who have been referred from the community primary care doctors, emergency room doctors, or other physicians in the hospital.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Hospitalist Physician (day/swing shift) provides medical care as the attending of record for adult inpatients (minimum age 18) presenting with primary internal medicine pathology and provides their services twenty-four (24) hours daily all days of the year. The Hospitalist Physician responds to admission requests and assumes care at such time that patients are transferred out of the Emergency Department or directly admitted from an outside facility as specified by each SCHS hospital's medical staff bylaws.
Work schedule: Shifts are generally ten to eleven (10-11) hours in duration and Physician will work a minimum of 166 annual shifts. Option of 7 day rotation schedule or option of flex scheduling.
Call expectation: Back-up call during high census times may be requested.
Work location: The Physician will be rotating between Bend and Redmond Hospital for coverage needs. Other outreach locations may be added as patient and business needs dictate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: (May perform additional duties of similar complexity within SCHS as required or assigned)
Clinical Expectations:
Provide 24-hour coverage of all Medicine patients on the Bend campus, both in an admitting role as well as a consultative role, in accordance with existing Co-Management Agreements.
Provide 24-hour coverage of all Medicine and Critical Care patients at the Redmond campus, both in an admitting as well as consultative role, in accordance with existing Co-Management Agreements.
When requested by the primary service, serve as a Consultant for all inpatient psychiatric patients in PES or Sageview.
If medically complex, serve as a Consultant for patients in Inpatient Rehabilitation.
Share in equitable distribution of work between all hospitalist physicians on shift.
Maintain credentialing and privileges to perform critical care procedures, and ability to rotate through the St. Charles-Redmond hospital on an equitable basis with others in the position.
Maintain familiarity with the SCMG organization structure, communication systems, billing process, and completing billing and coding documentation within time assigned by SCMG administration.
Obtain medical knowledge and current skills through regular continuing medical education (CME) activity.
Abide by all medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.
Share information both when requested and when anticipating someone might have a need.
Maintain punctual presence for assigned work days, in compliance with the SCHS policy on attendance
Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity. To attest to having obtained 60 hours of Category 1 continuing medical education (CME) relevant to the practitioner's current medical practice over the prior two-year period.
Participation in Rapid Response Supervision may be requested from time to time.
Administrative Expectations:
Document all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete all necessary tasks in compliance with health system policies and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Be familiar with the SCHS organization structure.
Participate in SCMG meetings and assist in policy formation for SCMG and Physician's practice.
Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity. Must attest to having adequate (CME) to meet maintenance of board certification and compliance with MSO rules and continuing privileges without restriction.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Family Medicine Physician, under the supervision of the Physician Site Lead, provides medical and appropriate basic surgical care to patients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Clinical Duties:
Practice and role model excellence in the Family Practice domains of diagnosis, aligning treatment goals to patient values, definitive treatment, supportive care treatment, follow-up care, promote good health and prevent illness.
Practice evidence-based Family Medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing. Cooperate with other SCHS physicians and caregivers to insure optimal patient care and outcomes.
Collaborate with other members of the SCMG Family Medicine care team, Specialty care provider teams and referring providers to ensure a world-class patient experience.
Provide a therapeutic presence in service to others by purposefully responding to the needs of patients/customers in a caring way. This includes introducing oneself and stating your purpose, asking the patient their preferred name, spending time with the patient to determine their care goals, active listening, and using skillful communications (appropriate touch, eye contact, etc.).
Prescribes medications in accordance with SCHS policies and procedures for medication administration. EDUCATION
Required:

Clinical Duties:

Practice evidence-based Family Medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing. Cooperate with other SCHS physicians and caregivers to insure optimal patient care and outcomes.

Provide a therapeutic presence in service to others by purposefully responding to the needs of patients/customers in a caring way. Prescribes medications in accordance with SCHS policies and procedures for medication administration. POSITION OVERVIEW: Family Medicine Physician, under the supervision of the Physician Site Lead, provides medical and appropriate basic surgical care to patients. DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: St. Charles Trauma & Acute Care Surgical Services currently employs surgeons board certified in surgical critical care with varying levels of experience as well as physician assistants and nurse practitioners. The current full-time commitment includes 156 clinical shifts. Surgeons are expected to comply with all Oregon State Trauma program requirements and expected to actively participate in quality improvement projects and community outreach education.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Surgeon is responsible for providing medical, surgical treatment, and follow up for patients treated with severe and life-threatening traumatic injuries, critical illness or emergency general surgery conditions. Surgeon will work with providers in other specialties, as needed, to stabilize and treat patients. Surgeon assesses and manages patients following established standards and practices.
Work schedule: Varied shift work in the hospital and in clinics that equates to 156 shifts per year for full time.
Shifts are comprised of day shifts and night shifts in the hospital or a day shift in the clinic. Currently, a hospital day shift is 7am-7pm and a hospital night shift is 6pm-7am providing an hour of overlap. Clinic shift hours vary with patient volume demands but do not exceed 8 am to 8 pm.
Back-up shifts, either day or night in the hospital follow the same hours but are only reimbursed and counted toward the annual shift requirement if the surgeon is called in and works more than 6 hours. A surge shift occurs when the surgeon is called in and works less than six hours, which does not count toward the annual shift requirement.
Call expectation: Primary night call and back up call is evenly distributed and typically includes 2-4 primary night shifts per month.
