Provision of care in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive assessment and physical examination, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests and/or procedures, diagnosing and directly managing clinical infertility, promoting wellness, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments, and as well as non-pharmacological therapies, and appropriate follow-up. The group currently consists of approximately 28 physicians and 24 advanced practice providers (physician assistants and nurse practitioners).
This position will see and treat patients at Mercy and Unity Hospital locations.
Responsibilities:
Care for wide variety of complex cardiology patients in a busy cardiology practice, working in both in-patient and out-patient settings
Perform and document applicable clinical history and physical examinations
Order appropriate laboratory, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures
Interpret data from above studies to formulate a suitable treatment plan, collaborating with supervising physicians as indicated
Instruct patients and family regarding implications of results and rationale for treatment plans
When greater depth of knowledge is required, help nursing staff in relaying results and returning patient phone calls
Serve as resource to referring physicians, addressing concerns when a patient?s primary cardiologist is unavailable

Serves as core faculty member in the Mclaren Greater Lansing residency program by providing education and evaluating progress of resident physicians. Provides patient care within Family Medicine residency clinic. Examine patients, obtain medical histories and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Counsel patients about illness, injuries, health conditions, and preventive healthcare. Acts independently, consistently exercises discretion and judgment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Educational
1. Devote weekly professional effort to teaching, administration, scholarly activity, and patient care within the program.
2. Provide supervision to Family Medicine residents at the Family Medicine resident clinic on assigned shifts.
3. Contribute to the academic component of the Family Medicine GME Program and overall GME Program of the hospital in accordance with current ACGME training standards.
4. Be available to interns and residents to provide coaching and mentorship
5. Assist in the recruitment and selection of qualified applicants to the Family Medicine residency program, in collaboration with the Family Medicine Program Director and the GME Department.
6. Provide leadership for clinic and community relations and maintain active liaison with members of the medical community through Medical Staff membership and participation in Medical Staff activities of Medical Center.
Clinical
1. Provides medical care and conducts patient interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and rendering of appropriate medical or surgical treatment.
2. Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection through interpersonal communication and/or the provision of informational materials to patients and family members.
3. Assesses need for, and as may be clinically indicated, refers patients to additional health care providers for need additional specialty care.
4. Assesses urgency of patient medical care needs in determining necessary follow-up schedule and/or referral/consultation appointments.
5. Exercises sound medical judgment in all issues pertinent to medical diagnosis and treatment on each patient's behalf.
6. Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care.
7. Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
8. Orders studies, test, and ancillary services.
9. Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention.
10. When necessary consults with medical colleagues, departmental or organizational medical leadership, or other professional staff regarding matters of optimizing patient care, accurate diagnoses, appropriate treatment and other issues promoting enhanced patient care delivery.
11. Participates in quality improvement, departmental and organization medical staff meetings, and continuing education activities in order to promote clinical operations enhancement and maintains personal professional credentials.
12. Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquires from patients.
13. Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with Federal and State laws, applicable regulations and organizational policies.
14. Participates in performance improvement activities.
