The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care seeks a full-time physician to deliver expert in-person outpatient palliative care at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. This provider would be board-certified or board-eligible for Hospice and Palliative Medicine. The physician will support a broad adult patient population, including those with solid and hematologic malignancies receiving chemo/immunotherapy as well as patients undergoing advanced therapies such as CAR-T and SCT. In fewer numbers, this provider would also consult on patients with other life-limiting conditions caused by end-organ failure.
In 2025 we moved our existing outpatient palliative care team (comprised of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers, and chaplains) to a new, large, multispecialty clinic facility. This physician will lead the rebuilding of our original palliative care ambulatory clinic at the University Hospital location of Carbone Cancer Center. As such, the successful candidate will not only be a skilled palliative carephysician, but they will also help rebuild and strengthen the palliative care presence at this critical site.
Key Job Responsibilities:
* Provide patient care in the ambulatory setting
* Comprehensively manage symptoms and facilitate goals of care discussions and advance care planning for patients with serious illnesses
* Lead the rebuilding of our original palliative care ambulatory clinic at the University Hospital location of Carbone Cancer Center

Department:
The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care at UW-Madison includes more than 60 faculty, 31 Advanced Practice Providers, and 19 Fellows. The division's faculty lead cutting-edge basic and translational research programs in classical and malignant hematology, cellular therapy, cancer biology, cancer prevention and screening and medical oncology. The Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI- designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer research, from prevention, screening, cancer therapy, development and evaluation, survivorship and palliative care. Faculty and staff of the Department of Medicine value professionalism, patient-centeredness, compassion, respect, innovation, discovery, teamwork, scholarship and stewardship.
Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC clinical sites.
We are members of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN, Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO).
The candidate will have also access to many shared resources and opportunities to collaborate with basic, translational and clinical researchers at the NCI-designated UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), the VA Hospital and throughout the UW-Madison campus. Administrative duties including committees and community service may be added as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.

Qualifications
MD or DO
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Wisconsin
Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician's field of practice
Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
