Employee shall provide clinical services to patients who are appropriate for the scope of an Urgent Care physician including but not limited to assessing the conditions of a variety of patients. Physician shall perform a medical exam and take a medical history to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to emergency consultation as needed. Physician will be expected to collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers. Physician can expect to have some involvement with telemedicine. A component of the physician's time may be allocated to teaching residents and medical students as appropriate. The physician will help foster the mission, vision and values of Renown Health, and help to foster the quality and risk adjustment strategies of the system. Nature and Scope This position provides non-emergent, acute care clinical services to individuals along the pediatric to geriatric spectrum. This position requires competency with common office-based procedures such as laceration repairs, incision and drainage of abscess and basic fracture care. An occupational medicine component exists where care is provided to the post-accident injured worker. The employee will supervise mid-level practitioners within the group. The U.C. Physician is responsible for implementing organizational initiatives and fostering a collaborative environment for patient care among colleagues throughout the organization and within the community. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 1. Ability to function effectively in an integrated delivery system. 2. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory rules; 3. Education and Experience M.D. or D.O. degree and successful completion of medical residency in Family Medicine Licenses, Certifications Required: Current license to practice in California and/or Nevada, as appropriate; A current Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration (approved for all drug schedules) and/or unrestricted Nevada State Board of Pharmacy Certificate and DEA to practice in Nevada, as appropriate; Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine. If not board certified, must become board certified within five (5) years of residency or fellowship training. Must maintain board certification and satisfy specialty / subspecialty recertification requirements, as applicable. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Other Experience/Qualifications Membership on the Hospital's medical staff and appropriate clinical privileges at Hospital in Family Medicine Able to obtain and maintain professional liability insurance Eligible for participation in the Medicare and Medi-Cal programs and for credentialing by contracted health plans, as applicable Ability to utilize an electronic medical records system to review patient health history and test results, document clinical activities and findings and place orders Working knowledge of industry standards for medical coding (ICD-10 and CPT-4) and documentation practices
