Attention all Physician Assistants, we are calling you to partner with us as independent contractors providing services to our Military Service members. We will primarily work weekends, with some occasional weekdays in the State of VA on an "as needed basis".
Under the Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP) we provide health readiness services to meet the medical and dental requirements to maintain a deployable military force for the following:
U.S. Army Reserve (USAR)
Army National Guard (ARNG)
U.S. Navy Reserve (USNR)
U.S. Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES)
U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (USCGR)
Air National Guard (ANG)
U.S. Air Force Reserve (USAFR)
Responsibilities:
Support Physical Health Assessments of military personnel.
Review health history, service member medical records, and medical questionnaires.
Interview military personnel to determine current and prior medical concerns.
Identify any concerns that need to be addressed immediately, inclusive of Behavioral Health.
Document interview results for readiness classification in the service member's medical record using a proprietary system.
Requirements
Supervising Physician may required depending on the state requirement
Active PA license in the state
CPR/BLS Certification
Experience with Primary Care, Urgent Care or Occupational Health - preferred
Experience with mobile medical services - preferred
Knowledge of Military systems, protocols, and terminology - preferred
Adaptable to fast paced environments, with large volumes of service members seen daily
Able to work extended hours
Able to work in various locations, including remote military installations
Able to travel, with weekend availability - preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Basic computer knowledge and skills
Not Required - Diagnose, treat, or prescribe medications

We are currently seeking an experienced Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Physician Assistant to perform initial and follow-up medication management assessments for clients who suffer from Psychiatric and/or Addictive symptoms. The Physician Assistant shall recommend and prescribe psychiatric and detox medications, when appropriate to clients through Tele Services and/or through direct face to face contact in an outpatient setting. The Physician Assistant should be comfortable with the patient population, function independently with minimal supervision by the Psychiatric and Buprenorphine waivered Physician.
Education and Experience Required: A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university; be a licensed physician assistant with current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification and Buprenorphine waiver. 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PYSCHIATRIC AND SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT REQUIRED.

Primary care physician job in Madison Heights, VA
The Staff Physician works as part of the Johnson Health Center (JHC) health care team, performing a variety of patient-centered services, including assessments, diagnoses, evaluations, implementation of treatment plans, and monitoring of follow-ups for patients. Physicians also assist in supervising community health center Physician Assistants (PAs) or Nurse Practitioners (NPs) as appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Relations:
Obtains complete medical history from patient, and/or family, and/or previous medical record, etc.
Educates the patient and family member on the patient's diagnoses and treatment options within the scope of knowledge and authority.
Coaches and supports the patient in self-management of their health.
Teaches and counsels patients and families in a culturally sensitive manner.
Staff Relations/Team Building:
Consults with physicians and other members of the health care team as necessary and facilitates communication between all members of the health care team.
Promotes the Team-based Care Model by participating in daily huddles and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) bi-weekly team meetings to communicate and collaborate on patient issues and needs.
Performs other necessary duties as required by the JHC to meet the goal of providing primary health care services.
Clinical Duties:
Provides primary medical care by caring for all patients in accordance with the physician's medical specialty.
Assesses, diagnoses, implements treatment, evaluates, and monitors patients' health status.
Performs complete physical examinations on patients.
Utilizes center-selected evidence-based care practice guidelines when managing chronic conditions and counseling patients on health care self-management.
Diagnoses acute and chronic illness on the basis of clinical findings, laboratory and x-ray reports, and/or the results of other diagnostic procedures according to approved protocols.
Collaborates, initiates, and monitors agreed-upon treatment plans with patients assigned to the Staff Physician, using protocols and/or consultation with a consulting physician.
Refers patients requiring hospitalization, an assessment, and management of conditions to emergency department physicians or appropriate specialists.
Renders emergency care and treatment, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, starting IV fluids, and ordering appropriate emergency medications. Sutures the lacerations and addresses acute orthopedic injury with splinting if within the provider's scope of care.
Physical attendance is an essential element of the job and necessary to perform the essential functions of the Staff Physician position.
Administrative Duties
:
Reviews other providers' notes as per the “Chart Review Policy” of the JHC.
Maintains all patient records to comply with required standards, reviews records regularly, and obtains physician counter signatures where necessary.
Manages time to preserve a patient-focused, team-based approach for rendering optimal health care.
Performance Improvement Activities:
Attends all medical staff meetings and participates in the JHC QI program.
Safety/Infection Control Activities:
Attends all mandatory OSHA infection control seminars and follows general OSHA guidelines for infection control, including “Universal Precautions.”
2. Abides by all JHC infection control policies, including acute response measures in the setting of a public health concern or disease outbreak.
Competencies:
Proficient in collaborating with patients using a team-based approach to health care management.
Other Functions:
Staff members must abide by the Code of Conduct as documented in the Corporate Compliance Manual.

Physical Demand and Working Environment:
Fast-paced office setting with travel to other offices often. Lifting and/or exerting force up to 25 pounds occasionally, with frequently moving of objects. Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited medical school with a degree in Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.
Completion of an approved residency program in his/her medical specialty.
License to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.
The ability to relate effectiveness to the patients and staff. Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques.
