He / She communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies. Qualifications Current and valid paramedic license issued by the State of Ohio. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current. PALS and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current. Minimum of one year as a paramedic in an EMS or in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred. Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization We have 5 PODs in our department, depending on acuity, is where the patient will be assigned Behavioral Health Pod We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit Responsibilities: RESPONSIBLE FOR: The Paramedic , under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician is responsible for facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology.
