    Looking to get your boots dirty and your career moving? Primoris Heavy Civil is currently hiring an experienced Field Engineer for our up-and-coming Abilene, Tx project. As a Field Engineer in our Heavy Highway Division, you'll be at the heart of major infrastructure projects - turning plans into pavement and ideas into interstates. The Field Engineer will be solely responsible in providing assistance to field staff on roads and highway construction activities. Job Description: Provide technical engineering expertise to a specific project and provide assistance in the field construction activities, assuring compliance with project plans and specifications. Functional Requirements: * Coordinate with Superintendents and Foremen to see that project plans and specifications are being followed and that the most cost-effective methods are employed. * Bring deficiencies of plans to attention of inspector and Project Manager. * Assist with resolution of problems with inspectors. * Measure all work put in place and monitor the accumulation and documentation of quantities then report these to the Project Engineer for inclusion on monthly estimate and for reporting to the accounting system. * Maintain accurate daily records of job activities, quantities performed, and instructions for the owner and accidents. * Provide technical assistance with project scheduling, prepare 3-week look ahead schedule. * Coordinate delivery of materials to insure no delays in job progress. * Obtain local state and federal permits related to the construction activities. * Supervise and direct subcontractors and major suppliers. * Approve timesheets for accuracy and proper allocation. * Analyze potential job hazards and prepare plan to eliminate risks. * Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor. * Working knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment, assigned discipline design, and overall engineering standards is necessary. * Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate with others is essential. Qualification Standards: * 2-4 years of construction engineering or construction management degree, or equivalent combination of training and experience. * Must be willing to move/travel to projects. * Working knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment, assigned discipline design, and overall engineering standards is necessary. * Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts. * Ability to assist in the preparation, review, and coordination of project submittals, including obtaining required documents from subcontractors. * Skilled in assigning and tracking cost codes, verifying subcontractor/supplier billing, and managing project documentation. * Familiarity with change order processes, including tracking materials, labor, and equipment for accurate cost evaluation. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to support all aspects of project management. * Knowledge of safety standards and ability to work with the Safety Department to identify and mitigate job hazards. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Must comply with company's drug and alcohol abuse policy. * Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company. * Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc. * Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.). * Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director. * Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time. * Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.) * Must be able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
