About the Position
This is entry level skilled craft position whereby the incumbent operates commercial passenger vehicles, multi-passenger vans, and ancillary equipment (wheelchair lift, two-way radio) for the purpose of transporting customers with special needs (senior citizens, person with disabilities) to assigned destinations. Para-transit routes are primarily followed; however fixed routes may be assigned if necessary. About the Agency
The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area -- all of which are maintained by staff of the Department. About the Position
This is senior lead/supervisory level professional staff work with administrative responsibilities conducting detailed analyses and providing recommendations concerning the activities and mission of the Office of the Sheriff. The position performs moderately complex special issue and project management assignments. The position may be required to speak before the general public and citizen groups. The executive position provides support directly to the Sheriff. In carrying out the assigned duties, the incumbent must apply a broad knowledge of the functions of the County Government. Due to the nature of the Agency's mission, the incumbent has access to and handles a great deal of information that requires the observance of the highest degree of confidentiality. The incumbent works independently subject to procedures set by Agency policies. The incumbent plans and carries out successive work steps, requiring only general assistance or policy guidance from the Sheriff or the Chief Assistant Sheriff.

The Office of the Sheriff serves as the law enforcement arm of the courts, responding to domestic violence calls, processing warrants, civil papers, domestic violence peace and protective orders, Emergency Psychiatric Petition (E.P.S.) orders, and the execution of evictions. The Office of the Sheriff is also responsible for court security, providing security and protection for visitors to our courthouses and securing courtrooms and holding areas. Deputies transport prisoners and are responsible for extraditing fugitives from other states.
Examples of Work
OFFICE MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION
* Supervises the staff and activities of the Sheriff's immediate office.
* Ensures that the Sheriff has adequate professional, clerical and technical support to perform the day-to-day operations required by the Office of the Sheriff.
* Plans, assigns, provides instruction and guidance, and supervises assigned support personnel utilizing knowledge of office practices and procedures and methods required to supervise the activities of subordinate personnel in the accomplishment of their normal and routine activities.
* Assures the efficiency of situations through planning, organizing and directing the activities of subordinates
* Maintains an awareness of and advises the Sheriff of significant/sensitive issues and events that occur in a timely manner assuring that such events are appropriately recorded.
* Conducts staff meetings and takes appropriate action to resolve complaints and conflicts.
REVIEWS ALL INCOMING DOCUMENTS AND CORRESPONDENCE AND OVERSEES PREPARATION OF RESPONSES.
* Reviews all incoming documents and correspondence, phone messages to determine the action to be taken and refers all correspondence to appropriate
* Bureau Chief for preparation of timely responses.
* Ensures that all responses are submitted on time and in proper format for the Sheriff's approval.
* Reviews and approves all responses to ensure that they are accurate and consistent with policy and procedures, as well as with previous correspondence on related subjects.
* Drafts letters, memos and other correspondence for the Sheriff as required.
* Coordinates the development of a variety of reports and data under the Sheriff's direction.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Research management information and prepares reports as requested by the Sheriff or Chief Assistant Sheriff.
* Research, coordinates, supervises, oversees and expedites the efficient handling of staff and special projects as assigned by the Sheriff.
* Attends various functions to make presentations on behalf of the Sheriff.
* Attends both civic and governmental meetings and serves on committees.
* Advises the Sheriff and assists him in identifying agency goals establishing program priorities and evaluating utilization of personnel and equipment toward goal fulfillment.
* Provides assistance to the staff of County and State agencies, including Judges, elected officials Department/Agency Heads, officials, employees and the public and maintains an effective working relationship with them.

The Prince George's County Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcementis currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Electrical Engineer Reviewer III (Engineer Reviewer 3G)grade G29positionin the Building Plan Review Division.
About the Position
This is senior level professional level work relating to the analysis of electrical engineering construction plans, schematics, and specifications for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, standards, and regulations. Incumbents may assume a lead role in reviewing and examining the more difficult and complex engineering plans that require the application of advanced engineering principles. Assignments afford opportunities for extensive independent judgment and technical evaluation under the general supervision. Assignments are performed in accordance with established engineering principles and departmental policies and procedures.
About The Agency
The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George's County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes.
Examples of Work
* Reviews plans, documents, and projects to determine if they meet required laws, regulations and ordinances for electrical safety in accordance with National Electrical Code and county code subtitle 9.
* Reads, analyzes, and interprets engineering plans, blueprints, specifications, and feasibility studies and test results to become familiar and knowledgeable about the nature, scope, and details of construction projects, identify problems/discrepancies in the initial design, and to determine compliance/non-compliance with established codes, policies, standards, and specifications.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the engineering or related scientific field determined by the requirements of the position (e.g., civil, environmental, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, or industrial)
* At least three (3) years of professional plans review work.
OR
* Seven (7) years of professional experience in construction, electrical, mechanical, or fire prevention work which includes three (3) years of professional plans review work.
Preferred Qualifications:
* ICC electrical plan review certification
