Operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with proficiency. Utilizes laser camera, processors, injectors, O2 and suction equipment. Essential Functions Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers any questionable orders to the Radiologist before performing procedure. Contacts ordering physician when there are discrepancies and requests a corrected written order. Correlates prior exams, applicable test results, and lab data pertinent to exam being performed. Records medical history on requisition/questionnaire as needed for Radiologist and properly scans documents into HIS. Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse. Performs basic patient care functions and informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Evaluates technical quality of exams, develops and utilizes various techniques for elevated quality and efficiency within the department. Differentiates artifacts from anatomical or pathological structures and recognizes imaging abnormalities and performs additional imaging as needed. Physical Requirements Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Required to assist all patients throughout their exam. Strenuous physical effort may be required while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers. Work requires unrestricted walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling. Must be able to read and understand patient orders and technical materials. Motor coordination needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment. Intact sense of sight and hearing for distances of up to 20 feet is necessary. Education, Experience and Certifications Graduate from an accredited 2 year AMA and ARRT-approved program in Radiologic Technology required. ARRT certification required. Registry eligible and must be taken within 1 year of hire date. 1 year experience in Diagnostic Radiology or 1 year experience in CT scanning or equivalent applicable experience required. RESPONSIBLITIES: + Performs all routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures through patient positioning, technique selection, administration of contrast media and application of immobilization and radiation protection devices as established by LG protocols, policies and procedures. + Receives requests, checking for special instructions from the requesting physicians. Consults with Radiologists as necessary. + Greets patients--confirming their identifications performing the correct procedures as directed and completely explaining the procedure to patient and family as directed. + Operates and enters information through the hospital computer system. Documents required information and patient history in the electronic medical record. Documents other information as required. + Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs POC testing, Universal Protocol and other paperwork as applicable. + Accurately and appropriately utilizes all computer related equipment, such as the electronic health record, email and the intranet. + May require travel to various site locations. + Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Completes warm-up procedures for each radiographic room/equipment as assigned. Records quality control activities. Reports equipment conditions to immediate leadership or appropriate personnel. + Compliance with OSHA and other mandated safety procedures or regulations. + Maintains necessary inventory supplies for assigned workstation, rotating stock in an orderly fashion and eliminating outdated items. + Participates in the clinical education of Radiology students as required. + Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Graduate of an AMA approved Radiological Technology School. + Certification in Radiological Technology, issued by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists, is required to be obtained within six (6) months of placement in position if hired after 8/1/2025, or twelve (12) months if hired between 1/1/2024 and 7/31/2025, or eighteen (18) months if hired prior to 1/1/2024. + CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire. Are you living your life's work? **General Summary Statement** Under the direction of a radiologist, performs high quality diagnostic imaging examinations using ingenuity, initiative and independent judgment of patients in a safe and timely manner, as ordered by physicians. Must follow physicians' orders precisely, maintaining a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their co-workers from unnecessary exposure. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** Performs all necessary preparations related to general diagnostic procedures: · Obtains patient history, explains the procedure, gains consent for contrast material administration and address any patient concerns prior to beginning the procedure. · Performs all necessary checks for accuracy of the prescription, precertification/authorization if required by individual insurance companies, EPIC / Radiant order and patient identification. · Perform all procedures following the appropriate imaging protocols. All technical factors should be appropriate for the age of the patient with consideration of the tools available for shielding and dose reduction. · Compiles and reviews images, provides applicable comparison studies, and prepares documentation for interpretation. · Performs quality control testing as required. · Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance on equipment; stock and replenish supplies as required. · Proficient in departmental and hospital information technologies such as RIS, PACS, EPIC and job specific related areas. **Education Training and Experience** Satisfactory completion of an accredited radiologic technology program resulting in a two-year certificate and/or associate degree or four year baccalaureate degree. **Licensure/Certification** + Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic technologists (ARRT).
