Position Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to join Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians Orthopaedics, a busy and rapidly growing practice with a strong focus on teamwork and the patient experience. This APP role would be largely outpatient with on-call responsibilities. The office location would be in Parkesburg; however, travel would be required to Lancaster General Hospital on surgery days. The APP will be supporting an Orthopedic surgeon with a focus on joint replacements and general orthopedics. This APP will oversee post-operative care in the outpatient setting, perform minor procedures such as joint injections, complete workup for new consultations to our practice as well as fulfilling the first assistant role in the OR approximately 2 days/week.
Hours: Fulltime (1.0 FTE), with hours generally falling between 7am - 5pm. The position includes rotating holiday coverage and 1 week of on-call on an every 6?8-week rotation.
Minimum Requirements:
Physician Assistant
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant by PA Board of Medicine.
Graduate of Accredited Physician Assistant training program.
Minimum one-year experience as a Physician Assistant is preferred.

Summary:

Keeps current with research related to issue of abuse to support the legal defensibility of forensic interviews and abuse disclosures.
+ Conducts High Risk Behavior Assessments for children and adolescents when there are risks of child sex trafficking. This includes completing an additional 40 hours of training related to human trafficking and remaining current in research and issues related to human and child sex trafficking.
+ Participates in the Pennsylvania State Chapter of Forensic Interviewers for trainings, peer review, and support.
+ Acts as a community liaison with all involved agencies and promotes the Lancaster County Children's Alliance model of child abuse intervention.

**Position Summary:**
Manages a focused surgical program, consistent with the mission of the Department of Surgical Services, by performing a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing and arrangement of surgical instruments, supplies and staffing coordinating with the physicians and Surgical Specialty Supervisor to ensure continuity of care based on knowledge of clinical needs of patients, established standards of care and resource utilization. Also assists in the delivery of patient care by handling instruments during operative procedures and by performing a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing and arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies under a Registered Nurse during other operative procedures not related to the focused surgical programs. **Essential Functions:**
+ Provides primary surgical assistance to the surgeon during the operative procedure. Functions as first assistant to the surgeon by handling tissue, using instruments to provide wound exposure and hemostasis, suction, sponge and bovie when needed, cutting and clipping tissue and tying suture as directed by surgeon, which may include closure of surgical wound. Demonstrates expertise with laparoscopic equipment and techniques.
