12 City is a 36 bed medical oncology unit. Our nurses provide care to patients with complex oncologic diagnoses. Nurses within our unit are trained in delivery of chemotherapy and biotherapy, autologous stem cell transplant and clinical research trials. Through the relationships formed, the staff provides compassionate care to patients and families throughout their cancer experience.
Summary:
+ The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice is a newly licensed new-to-practice RN or RN with less than 15 months of experience that demonstrates basic safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. Summary:
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is looking to add an experienced full time Certified Nurse Midwife to our Family Medicine Obstetrics (FMOB) team. The additional CNM position would add a fourth Midwife to our existing team and allow the department to expand midwifery services across our mission areas. Our CNM's work collaboratively with our FMOB Faculty covering our L&D service at HUP AND providing prenatal care and women's health services in partnership with several community health centers across the city. This promotes our mission of caring for historically underserved populations in settings they can access while providing high quality care for both birthing parent and child. Interested candidates should have a strong interest in teaching residents and students at HUP L&D and in the community.
All midwives function under the guidelines designated by Penn Medicine medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CNM is held accountable through a formal job description, through delineations of privileges and through their agreement with their collaborating physicians who have initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within Human Resource guideline.The primary role is to function as a full-scope Midwife providing independent and/or collaborative care within the department in accordance with its mission. The care will extend to uncomplicated gynecological and obstetric patients, as well as obstetrical patients and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods in the hospital and or outpatient setting. The Midwife will also participate in teaching medical and midwifery students and junior residents the management of normal labor and delivery, and provide feedback regarding their performance. The CNM will project a positive image of Penn Medicine through excellent communication, teamwork, teaching and patient care skills, to support patients/families, facility personnel and Penn Medicine processes to ensure coordinated, efficient, and safe/quality care while providing an excellent experience.
Responsibilities:
+ Provides direct clinical care for patient population according to established protocols and utilizes evidence based practice standards in collaboration with team.
+ Maintains accurate and confidential medical records.
+ Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with organizational standards in the electronic health record (EHR).
+ Identifies self properly to the patient and family, and clarifies the role of the nurse midwife if necessary.
+ The nurse midwife should function within their scope and refer to the collaborating physician when outside of scope, and/or directed by the collaborating physician or when requested by the patient and/or family.
+ Performs interventions specific to assigned patient population and collaborative agreement.
+ Participates in the performance improvement processes to meet quality of care and service standards.

Penn Medicine is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife or Nurse Practitioner who is dedicated to diversity, population health, and care of our patients in both the Perinatal Evaluation Center (which is our emergency room for pregnant and postpartum patients). Experience with resident training and education is a plus. We are a multidiscipline group of OB/GYN, Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, Neonatologists, Midwives, and Residents coming together to optimize patient care.
The PEC serves as the OB triage unit, HUP's ED for pregnant women greater than 16 weeks gestation. It houses 10 triage beds, and an ultrasound evaluation area and is adjacent to HUPs Labor and Delivery suite. The PEC is one of the initial contact areas for patients with obstetric related concerns. It is staffed with nurses, both NPs, CNMs and RNs who work together to triage and care for each patient, collaborating with the physicians to develop an individual plan of care. While the PEC and Labor and Delivery are distinct units, we function as one cohesive unit that works together to insure quality care to our patients. Each person is an integral part of a TEAM that includes physicians, nurses, surgical technicians, and support staff. With a team approach we are better able to provide this quality care to our population.
The Advanced Practice Nurse will report to the Perinatal Nurse Manager who will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the position as it pertains to the Department of Labor and Delivery, as well as, implementation/oversight of selected hospital CEQI indicators that are chosen for each clinical department. The Human Resource issues relating to daily job performance will be the responsibility of the Perinatal Nurse Manager. In addition, the collaborating physician will be an OB/GYN attending or laborist who will be responsible for direct oversight of the clinical role and lead orientation to the clinical unit and ongoing assessment of the clinical skills. The identified collaborating physician will evaluate the Advanced Practice Nurses' clinical skills and competence as part of their annual performance review.
Hours of work determined by the Clinical Service to meet the needs of patient care. includes day, night shifts, weekends and holidays. This emergency department provides care to patients 24/7.
Hospital continuing education to meet the requirements of the system and as per TJC. Minimum requirements for continuing education as outlined by the regulatory agencies

Our orthopedic service is a busy service with complex trauma patients with a high CMI. The team performs 2100 operative procedures and 1000 discharges annually. The Penn Medicine Recruitment team is seeking full-time, Registered Nurse for the Bed Management/ Transfer Center at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The UPHS Bed Management/Transfer Center RN provides overall direction, guidance, and coordination to health care providers in the achievement of timely/safe patient placements and movement. The RN is responsible for appropriate admission and placement of all patients into HUP, by evaluating appropriateness of admission and level of care for all patients and using clinical knowledge to assign the most appropriate bed to each patient. The Bed Management/Transfer Center RN prioritizes all bed assignments by using clinical expertise and assigns Medical teams/Residents for all Medicine admissions. In the absence of the Pre-Cert RN, the Bed Management/Transfer Center Revaluates appropriateness of admission and level of care for all patients and can require a buy-back agreement for patients transferring from outside facilities. Additionally, the RN is responsible for facilitating inter-facility transfers through the Penn Medicine Transfer Center. The RN maintains liaisons with referring facilities, and is familiar with the UPHS clinical and strategic initiatives to triage patients to the appropriate facility.
Minimum Requirements:
-Must have a Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree and be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania
-Minimum of 5 years' clinical experience
-Critical Care/ED Experience preferred

Job Summary
Functions in the physician office or ambulatory care practice to provide nursing services in an office setting. Works as part of a care team to improve the execution of quality requirements, increase throughput, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall patient experience.
Essential Functions
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or arrange for the provision of appropriate care, for patients, as pertinent to the scope of nursing practice and specialty of the office setting.

Participates in telephone triage by obtaining clinically appropriate data and symptoms from the patient and advises and instructs patients according to established protocols and/or orders from the provider.
Ensures that all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, and that the provider is presented with all test results.
Pre-visit planning with provider and care team
Medication administration, including injections.
Check vital signs, height, weight
Assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication list.
May assist with satisfaction of pertinent health maintenance requirements.
Assists providers during procedures and examinations, and performs instrument and room clean-up.
Utilizes standard precautions. Complies with CHS Policies; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards; Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations; and The Joint Commission (TJC), Division of Facility Services (DFS), and other Regulatory Agency standards as applicable to the practice.
Reports patient's condition and reaction to the provider following procedures, medication administration, or treatments.
Assists with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization as needed.
Participates in electronic documentation of care at the direction of the provider.

Responsible for all vaccine and pharmaceutical orders including North Carolina Immunization Registry (NCIR) and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) regulations and monitoring inventory level of clinical supplies specific to the practice setting.
Physical Requirements

Education, Experience and Certifications
