Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Principal Consulting Embedded Software Engineer to join our organization. In this role, the individual will join a dynamic and collaborative environment, encouraging cross team development between Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Data Application departments. Specifically, the individual will join our R&D organization which develops our Chromatography Separations based Technologies.

The instrumentation being developed and maintained involves many electro-mechanical sub-systems which provide an exciting opportunity for learning system dynamics and integration of the different technologies.

+ Candidate will be responsible for architecture and designs, software implementations based on those designs, documentation and maintenance of complex, embedded and networked real-time analytical instrumentation systems.

+ This individual should have a C++ background, have strong fundamental skills with respect to object oriented programming, experience in working with instrumentation and control along with background in automation via scripting.

+ A strong familiarity with a structured software development environment is necessary, and the candidate must be highly motivated and self disciplined. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are required.

The Role

AspenTech is seeking a senior level position within our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Professional Services organization based in our Houston, Texas office.

As an AspenTech Principal Consultant Engineer you will provide consulting services to our clients implementing our aspen ONE software with a specific focus on the Manufacturing Execution System software products. And have knowledge and expertise to offer data integration solutions to afford aspen ONE Supply Chain software (Petro SC or Chem SC) and aspen ONE MES software to integrate seamlessly to support our customers. The successful individual will be responsible for undertaking consulting services for AspenTech clients in the oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, food & bev, and metals & mining industries, with opportunities to engage in projects globally in North America, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia Pacific (including Middle East) to name some regions.

At this level, the candidate will be a key driving force in the delivery of the various software that supplements the MES solutions to new and existing customers. The candidate will strive to learn other aspen ONE products outside of MES. You will become an expert in configuring and using our various platforms, onboarding new customers, and ensuring that all their requirements are met. As well as working with internal product management, marketing, and sales teams, the candidate will also regularly act as the Technical Lead in projects, be accountable for project budget, proper communications with customers via email, web calls, and face-to-face meetings, and achieve on-time delivery.

Your Impact

As a Principal Consultant Engineer your responsibilities will include:

* Technical leadership on AspenTech MES implementation projects. This includes but not limited to:
* Gathering customer requirements and translating those into high-level solution designs for aspen ONE MES products (Aspen Production Execution Manager, Aspen Unified Reconciliation and Accounting, in addition to sister applications within AIoT products Aspen Infoplus.21, Aspen Production Record Manager, aspen ONE Process Explorer, etc.).
* Defining and implementing data integration with external systems and aspen ONE products such as Petro SC (PSC), includes learning the latest Aspen Unified solutions at the level needed for designing data integration

* Deliver technical documents such as Functional Specifications, Detailed Design Documents, as well as Site Acceptance Test Documents
* Be confident, capable, and have solid ability to play a leading role on projects.
* Demonstrate collaboration with the AspenTech Project Management team, Sales Team, involving technical to non-technical aspects of the project.
* Formulating business processes to support the systems.
* Working with clients to implement the systems.
* Commissioning the completed systems which may require on site monitoring and analysis.
* Participation in commercial proposal development and testing of software upgrades.
* Designing and implementing enterprise-wide visualisation and collaboration solutions using AspenTech products or PBI. This also includes integration work with Aspen Supply Chain solutions to support these projects.
