What Your Job Will Be Like We are seeking a R&D S&E, Mechanical Engineer to join the Purchased Product Value Stream group. The selected candidate will be the technical interface to product realization teams and the commercial supply base for the design and delivery of mechanical parts/components used in nuclear weapon design, development, and production activities. They will also participate in the product realization process (design through delivery), including early engagement in the development phase to define, validate, and clarify requirements for mechanical parts/components destined for use in nuclear weapons. The Program Chief Engineer will serve as the technical lead for one or more SRFS phased-array programs in development. Develop a detailed understanding of semiconductor bandgaps, their influence on light absorption, light emission, photogenerated current production, and voltage production in solar cells. Identify the important parameters that can be extracted from an IV curve such as short circuit current, open circuit voltage, fill factor, shunt resistance, series resistance, ideality factor, and the phenomena that are responsible for variability in the above parameters. Combine the understanding described above to investigate solar cell device failure mechanisms to root cause. Combine the understanding described above to allow accurate definition of the problem or need, identification of the correct measurement method to address the need, efficient and correct use of the measurement tool, and meaningful and high-value analysis of the data. Combine the understanding described above to plan, manage, and execute qualification, confidence, and reliability testing campaigns. Analyze and interpret test data utilizing tools such as Excel and JMP and confidently present thoughtful and correct analysis to team members. Experience in HVAC and Plumbing design is required. Roles and Responsibilities: Mentorship of junior staff. Effectively fosters relationships with team members and clients, as well as industry stakeholders and regulators. Participates in business development activities, such as; marketing, developing project win strategies, and preparing technical data for proposals and interviews. Ensure quality management with implementation of quality control standards. Creation and management of the Mechanical scope of work for the project. Oversee development of detailed design drawings Sizing, selection and layout of mechanical equipment. Develop project specifications to meet the performance requirements. Client interaction and coordination. Develop and maintain progress, quality control, schedule, staffing planning and coordination with project management including regular reporting. Coordination of communications between the project team, the engineering and design team members to assure quality of work, and that consistent technical content drawing/design packages are maintained throughout a project. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering in an ABET-accredited college or university. A minimum of 5 years of experience with mechanical design of facilities. Currently a licensed professional engineer in New Mexico or within a year of obtaining a New Mexico license. Experience with MEP software such as Revit MEP is a plus. Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation is a plus.
