About the Role Our client is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their team and provide technical leadership for the mechanical design and development of the core technology, the "Node." The Node is a device designed to produce energy in the harshest ocean conditions for extended periods without maintenance. This role is crucial to the success of their mission. You will be responsible for the hull and the team that forms the backbone of our Nodes. This is a role that requires deep structural design experience, ability to make outstanding technical contributions, and leadership abilities that are effective in a humble and high performance culture. While defining the design for the Nodes, you will build and manage a team to support the future iterations of the Nodes. Accountable for the team that defines the Node primary and secondary structures. Lead and participate in design reviews with the internal team and interface with external fabricators and vendors. Mentor and guide other engineers and designers, fostering a culture of technical excellence. Oversee project documentation and create detailed engineering releases using drawings and GD&T as appropriate. Partner closely with our Manufacturing and Operations team to produce new Node designs and design increments that achieve targets for cost and performance. Develop and maintain expert level use of CAD software personally and within the team for engineering definition and release. Requirements A degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, naval architecture, marine engineering, or another related engineering discipline. Extensive experience designing components, structures, and assemblies from a variety of materials. 10+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience. 5+ years experience with large scale, safety critical welded steel structures. Strong fundamental skills with hand calculations and experience with structural FEA. Demonstrated experience building teams, leading, and mentoring other engineers. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide guidance to and receive it from engineers, designers, technicians, and suppliers. A work history that includes at least five design, build, test, deploy/release/produce cycles for complex systems/vehicles. Preferred Experience An advanced degree in a relevant engineering field or 5 years of additional experience. 5+ years in a similar role. Proficiency with NX/Teamcenter. Key Responsibilities + Lead the end-to-end systems engineering for embedded autonomous vehicle (AV) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) platforms. + Define, document, and manage system-level requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with product and safety goals. + Develop and maintain system architecture, balancing trade-offs in compute resources (CPU, GPU, NPU), memory (RAM), and communication bandwidth (Ethernet). + Perform system resource allocation, profiling, and optimization to meet performance, power, latency, and reliability targets. + Collaborate cross-functionally with software architecture, firmware, hardware, validation, and vehicle integration teams to ensure cohesive system design and implementation. + Drive technical roadmap planning and contribute to strategic decisions on future platform capabilities and scalability. + Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies related to system integration and performance. + Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team. Required Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Master's or PhD preferred. + Minimum 8+ years of systems engineering experience, ideally within embedded systems, automotive, robotics, or related industries. + Proven track record of leading system architecture design and resource allocation for complex embedded platforms. + Deep understanding of AV/ADAS domain including embedded computing platforms, sensor integration, and real-time constraints. + Strong expertise in system performance analysis and optimization, including CPU/GPU/NPU architectures, memory hierarchies, and network bandwidth management. + Experience with platform systems engineering: device power management, I/O, internal & external communication + Experience with edge compute SoC and MCU architectures. + Hands-on experience with system modeling, simulation tools, and requirements management frameworks. + Experience working with Ethernet-based automotive networks (e.g., Automotive Ethernet, TSN). + Familiarity with safety standards and practices (ISO 26262, ASPICE) is a plus. + Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams. + Proven ability to navigate and solve problems characterized by high ambiguity Preferred Qualifications + Advanced degree (MS or PhD) with a focus on embedded systems, systems engineering, or related fields. + Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS environments in automotive or robotics applications. + Knowledge of AV software stacks, middleware, and sensor data processing pipelines. + Familiarity with system-level debugging, profiling, and telemetry tools. + Prior experience at a leading AV company or tier 1 automotive supplier. + Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects. + Understanding of power management and thermal constraints in embedded platforms. + Experience contributing to strategic technical roadmaps and platform evolution. **Hybrid:** This role is categorized as hybrid. As a Staff Enterprise Application Engineer specializing in Palantir, you will utilize your expertise in Palantir Foundry and AWS cloud technologies to design, deploy, and tailor solutions for complex aerospace challenges. In this role, you will build and maintain Foundry pipelines, modular applications, and workflows, while working closely with stakeholders to create cutting-edge solutions using ontology, advanced analytics, and AI. **** **Roles and Responsibilities** + Architect and design sound/supportable technical solutions to complex business requirements + Develop and maintain Foundry pipelines using Pipeline Builder to ingest, transform, and integrate data. + Build modular applications and workflows leveraging Python, and Foundry AIP. + Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to refine data models and ontology mapping. + Assist in Foundry workshops to guide stakeholders through platform capabilities. + Support testing, debugging, and performance tuning of Foundry applications. + Work with aerospace data to identify patterns, trends, and insights using Palantir Foundry and AWS analytical tools. + Develop custom applications and workflows within Foundry and AWS to address specific challenges. + Ensure data integrity and compliance with aerospace industry standards. + Apply lean methodologies to identify opportunities for process improvement. + Share feedback with Palantir and AWS product teams to enhance tools and workflows. + Provide technical coaching and direction to more junior teammates. **Technical Qualifications** + Strong experience in Python, PySpark, and front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. + Experience with Pipeline Builder, AIP, and Foundry's application development ecosystem. + Proficiency in AWS cloud services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudFormation. + Experience with Git-based code repositories and CI/CD workflows. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 4 years of professional experience OR associate's degree with minimum of 7 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 9 years of professional experience + Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) + **Note:** Military experience is equivalent to professional experience The base pay range for this position is $110,700- $184,600.
