With general autonomy, this position has bottom-line responsibility for the financial and technical success of very large projects. Responsible for managing all phases of project planning and execution on major (Mega) projects (typically a major project or group of projects having a total installed cost of over $500 million) in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company. Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders and is the liaison with the owner on all project matters. Possesses knowledge of the respective industry including Petrochemicals, Refining, Chemicals, LNG, Energy Transition etc. ranging in scope from pre-FEED, FEED to EPCM. Can manage and coordinate domestic as well as international multiple projects, alliances, joint ventures, etc. May supervise one or more Project Managers. Description:The Principal Project Engineer is responsible for managing a portfolio of business-critical projects aligned with the Solta manufacturing site priorities to ensure continuity of supply.The position will be involved with the overall process of project portfolio management as well as leading individual projects.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

The Solta Principal Project Engineer has responsibilities within two main areas:
Portfolio Management -
The project engineer is the owner of the Solta project management process.Responsibilities include: Chair meeting to rate and rank projects with the management team. Manage overall process to accommodate high priority project requests and make appropriate trade-offs with currently active projects as needed. Assignment of projects. Project preparation and deliverables (inputs, outputs such as plans, budget, resources, etc.) in place for each project. Chair meeting to review project status with the management team and project leads. Communicate changes to project priorities and timelines. Track progress against project goals and budgets. The project engineer will be responsible for the administration of the prioritized portfolio of projects to support the Solta manufacturing site. Monitor overall portfolio spend against budget. Support annual operating plan with budgetary activities and estimation of resources. Develop close working relationship with site management and functional managers to ensure alignment and balance of project resource needs with other site projects. Chair regular reviews of progress against project goals and deliverables. Communicate changes to project priorities and timelines. Manage overall process to accommodate high priority project requests and make appropriate trade-offs with currently active projects as needed. Track progress against annual project goals and budgets.
Project Management -
Responsible for the cross functional execution of assigned projects. Ensure project plans are in place and regularly monitored for all assigned projects including a detailed project charter/scope, budget, resource assignments, risk assessment, and milestone schedule. Lead select individual projects within the project portfolio as assigned.
Experience, Education, Training, Traits:
Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or related). Master's degree preferred. PMP or similar certification preferred. A minimum of eight years of experience as an engineer with at least five years leading technical projects. Advanced understanding of Microsoft Project preferred. A demonstrated ability to analyze and manage issues across multiple functional disciplines. Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and documentation skills Proven track record of delivering to objectives. Strong teamwork and negotiation skills and the ability to influence without authority. Ability to be successful within a matrix-reporting environment. Strong analytical skills.
