Role Description
If you're a recent construction management graduate and/or have experience working for a large General Contractor or Sub Contractor and you're looking to skip years of climbing the corporate ladder, this is your chance to step into leadership-level exposure from day one.
This is a full-time Project Engineer- Passive Fire Protection Consultant role, located in Carmel, California with the flexibility for some work from home. You'll work directly with project teams, architects, contractors, and owners to help solve problems that shape projects. The day-to-day tasks include overseeing and managing passive fire protection projects, developing project plans, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, and providing technical guidance on firestop systems.
Responsibilities
Collaborate directly with owners, architects, general contractors, and subcontractors to deliver expert passive fire protection solutions.
Work on some of California's largest and most technically demanding projects, including OSHPD healthcare, OSFM, aviation, education, and research facilities.
Work directly with companies President and Project Manager to help research, track, and develop solutions while aiding in progress project completion.
Travel up to 25% to job sites while maintaining a flexible hybrid work schedule.
Work in Office direct with President 2-3 days per week. More work from home days in future as team member expands their experience with the opportunity to be fully remote.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management (preferred), Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field (recent graduates welcome).
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in construction software such as Bluebeam, Navisworks, Revit, Procore, AutoDesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, Revizto, etc.
Accepting of a schedule, roles and responsibilities that changes daily to meet the clients needs and demands.
Self motivating to work efficiently remotely.
Fast learner, open minded, outside the box thinking and good team player. Does not need experience in passive fire protection as this can be taught.
Driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities.
Someone who has experience working on fast paced high profile projects and understand the design, build and inspection process. This includes how the paperwork, sequencing and approval processes occur.

A Day in the Life:
No two days are ever the same in this role.
Tasks can include:
Training operators in proper process, tool usage, and tool maintenance.
Collaborating with other engineering teams on process efficiency, quality, and safety improvement projects.
Developing new designs using 3D modeling software like Solidworks for carts or production tools. Then work with the fab shops to complete the fabrication of them in a timely manner.
Work closely with contractors to coordinate utility needs such as air and electrical drops, and oversee the installation of new equipment.
Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks on machinery.
Troubleshoot machines whenever the team needs extra support.
Provide hands-on support to production lines as needed.
Complete hands-on testing for new process changes

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Ability to support any shift in a 7-day work pattern
Candidate must be flexible to significant travel during initial plant start-up phase
Candidate must be willing to work remotely and in-person at temporary facilities as needed during initial plant start-up phase

OVERVIEW
Join our team as a Senior Process Engineer!
This is an in office role based out of our Maumee, Ohio office.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Process Engineer with a strong background in refining processes within the oil and gas industry, particularly in the Northwest Ohio region. The ideal candidate will play a key role in both project execution and business development, leveraging existing relationships with regional refineries to drive growth and expand our presence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage with plant personnel, clients, and stakeholders to understand operational needs and identify project opportunities.
Leverage existing relationships at Northwest Ohio refineries to support strategic business development and expand client accounts.
Conduct site visits, feasibility studies, and process evaluations to support client goals and safety compliance.
Lead or support engineering projects in refining, including process improvements, retrofits, debottlenecking, and new unit designs.
Collaborate with internal multi-discipline teams including mechanical, electrical, and automation engineers.
Support process safety efforts including HAZOPs, PHA facilitation, and regulatory compliance activities.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and industry insights to support professional development and strengthen the team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
8+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with specific experience in refinery operations or projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of refining processes such as distillation, hydrotreating, catalytic cracking, reforming, etc.
Strong working relationships with key personnel at refineries located in or near Northwest Ohio.
Excellent communication skills and a client-focused mindset.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ProMax, etc.)
Familiarity with OSHA PSM regulations and PHA participation or facilitation.
Prior experience developing proposals, scopes of work, or cost estimates.
Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one is a plus.

We offer market-competitive compensation for a Senior Process Engineer with a base range of $90,000 to $115,000 annually, and a total compensation package that includes quarterly bonuses, and 401(k) matching. Salaries are based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
