Reality Labs at Meta is seeking Research Scientists with experience in product-focused machine learning and signal processing research to advance our pioneering work in neuromotor interfaces, which has grown out of the acquisition of CTRL-labs. We're building a practical interface drawing on the rich neuromotor signals that can be measured non-invasively via surface electromyography (EMG) with single motor neuron resolution. This technology could become one of the main pillars for interaction with virtual and augmented worlds.We are a multi-disciplinary team of researchers investigating the nature of human neuromotor signals, developing novel signal processing and machine learning methods to infer a user's intent, and creating novel interaction techniques and user experiences. Minimum Qualifications:
8 years professional experience in a closely-related biological field or laboratory is required. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics and four years of professional experience in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics; or A master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics and three years of professional experience as described above; or A doctorate from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics and one year of professional experience as described above can substitute for the required experience.

Applicants with a strong background in data analyses
Applicants with at least two (2) peer-reviewed publications, of which at least one (1) is as lead author

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will serve as a project lead on spiny lobster, benthic ecology, and fisheries research projects using appropriate experimental designs in the Florida Keys. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leading and participating in research in field and laboratory research.
Collecting data on distribution, abundance, size structure, growth, and other population characteristics and fisheries issues using above water and underwater sampling techniques.
Analyze data using advanced statistical techniques to determine statistical significance and population abundance.
Prepare reports for fishery managers and other scientists and publish manuscripts suitable for peer reviewed publications and management activities.
Seek out and prepare high quality proposals for outside funding agencies. Manage funded projects from various sources (state, grants, and contracts).
The employee will prepare reports for fishery managers and other scientists and publish manuscripts suitable for peer reviewed publications and management activities.
Establish and maintain close relationships with other SFRL researchers and researchers outside of FWC to ensure the FWC research is relevant to the fishery and ecosystem management needs of the Florida Keys.
Additional duties include seeking out and preparing high quality proposals for outside funding agencies, performing other related work as required, assisting in other institute activities as requested, as well as promoting and participating in public outreach efforts.
Field work is conducted underwater and will require maintaining FWRI/AAUS diver status and participation in SCUBA and operating vessels.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to design and implement research studies, coordinate and analyze data, and perform statistical analysis.
Coordinate work assignments and prepare technical reports and manuscripts.
Knowledge in the use of PCs, R, (or a PC advanced statistical package); MS office software.
Safely trailer and operate vessels up to 25' in length.
Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, principles and procedures used in personnel & budget administration.
Maintain SCUBA certification, a valid driver's license, and demonstrate the ability to swim with sufficient skill to save oneself in an emergency.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing and establish and maintain working relationships with others.

This includes the application of prescribed fire, conducting and providing oversight for invasive vegetation control, restoration and management of tree islands, assisting in the development and promotion of public use programs including both hunting and non-hunting uses, and helping to set management and restoration objectives consistent with agency and division directives.
Additionally, this position will assist with conducting wildlife and vegetation surveys, collecting biological data from hunter-harvested animals, coordinating and implementing managed public hunts on both the WMA and Stormwater Treatment Areas, preparing and submitting administrative and biological reports, supervising seasonal staff, maintaining equipment in a safe and useable condition, and furthering agency goals through interactions with cooperating agencies and stakeholders.

Description of Duties: This primarily office-based position is part of the Environmental Commenting Program and assists with developing conservation measures to reduce potential adverse impacts to species with a focus on Florida manatee and marine turtle conservation through the review of permit applications. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Review permit applications and develop biological opinions to minimize or avoid impacts to protected species for environmental resource permits and other regulatory or planning authorizations such as Environmental Resource Permitting (ERP), Coastal Construction Control Line permits (CCCL), Sovereign Submerged Lands Leases (SSL), Joint Coastal Permits (JCP), various management plans, comprehensive plan amendments and State Clearinghouse under Coastal Zone Management Program (CZMP);
* Provide technical assistance to other sections within the agency, as well as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Army Corps of Engineers, Port Authorities, and county/city governments;
* Implement county manatee protection plans (MPPs) and conduct MPP consistency determinations;
* Initiate, manage and/or attend meetings, workshops, and create/deliver presentations;

The Division of Habitat & Species Conservation is comprised of six Sections and two offices. This position works within the Imperiled Species Management Section (ISM) of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Division of Habitat and Species Conservation.
Minimum qualifications: A high school diploma and 7 years professional experience in a closely related biological field or laboratory program is required. A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field can substitute for four of the 7 years of required experience.
Additional requirements: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Previous experience with Florida manatee management or research programs and/or the state or federal environmental regulatory programs, including policy development, is highly preferred. • Skilled MS software applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required, and Google Earth Pro, ArcGIS 10.5+, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online, SharePoint;

• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, the public, and stakeholders;

Description of Duties:
This is an opportunity to join our team within the Imperiled Species Management Section's Manatee Management Program! This position is responsible for rule development, drafting protection measures for rules, permits and variances and issuance of related permits and variances associated with species and their habitat under the responsibility of the Section. This position will have a focus on rules associated with the Florida manatee, but it will also act as subject matter expert and provide administrative guidance for rule related tasks for marine turtles, Florida panthers, and Florida black bears. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Develops, monitors, and coordinates the establishment of Florida manatee protection zone rules, including producing legal descriptions, technical reports, and related figures;
Serves as an FWC representative at government and public meetings, administrative hearings, and FWC meetings;
Collects data and collaborates with internal and external partners, including serving as principal investigator, contract manager, or liaison for these activities;
Conducts detailed and thorough scientific data analyses to support management decisions;
Reviews and coordinates requests related to permits, variances, and local government Manatee Protection Zones and maintains complete and detailed records of these actions;
Provides technical assistance and coordination with FWC staff, law enforcement, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, local governments, and stakeholder groups to conserve, enhance, and protect manatee habitat;
Participates in the development and revision of county Manatee Protection Plans;
Monitors Florida legislative session for proposed bills that may impact Division and Section species and shares with appropriate staff;
Serves in leadership capacity for the section's stranding and salvage carcass recovery program;
Participates in site visits, data collection, and other miscellaneous field work assignments as needed;
Assists with administrative and office duties as requested.
